I dont see the Jazz going crazy on free agents anytime in the next long time. I'm pretty sure the whole cap space hoopla is so we can re-sign our core four.

Here is my prediction for next year. I'm not trying to be down on the Jazz either. This is reality.

Kanter
Favors
Hayward
Burks
Evans
Carroll
Mo Williams
Tinsley
Al
Marvin Williams
Foye
One small time FA. Probably a low level pg
Draft pick #1
Draft pick # 2
Draft pick # 3 (2nd rnd pick)

Thats 15 players.

Our roster won't look much different than it does now. Again I'm not trying to troll anyone. I just don't want you guys to get your hopes up for nothing, like the trade deadline. This is reality. This is who the Jazz are. We will be a playoff team again. So things will be all good.

Lets just hope we find a gem or 2 with our picks.

That's about what I think too, what's really frustrating is that the only way this team can significantly improve at this point is from internal growth or hitting a home run with 2 picks around 20. Not likely.

Maybe we add one more small time FA (a small forward perhaps) or keep Murphy. I predict we cut Murphy.

Wow, you really went out on a limb there. Al or Paul. Tinsley or Watson. A small time FA or Murphy. You're as indecisive as a woman.

Thats 14-15 players.

Dude, you gotta pick Al or Paul, if you are going to say that one of them stays. Otherwise, its not really a prediction. I am with you though, I think the Jazz want to see what this team brings.

My projections:

Favors
Kanter
Hayward
Burks
Millsap
Evans
Mo Will
Myck Kabongo
Alex Poythress
Foye
Demarre

I think those are pretty much the players that will see time. We will be starting a new round of "play the young guys" only then it will be "play the younger guys" haha.
We will probably round out the roster with K Murph, Jamaal, another big man to play in front of Jeremy, and a second round pick.

Hayward, Favors, Kanter, and Burks we know for sure. Then there's Marvin, of course. Probably two rookies, unless we somehow trade up for the pg that we like. I wouldn't mind rolling for a season with that lineup, but it's going to be hard for the FO to sign 5-7 free agents that don't have more Corbin Cred than Favors, Kanter, and Burks.

But I still think Favors will start.

Oh crap, I created a duplicate thread. I will copy paste mine here and the mods can delete mine or let it die.

From my other post:
So, the lineup is pretty much set for next year.....
Let's assume that we are keeping either Al or Millsap. That's 1.

Kanter, Favors, Burks, Hayward, Jeremy. All under contract, That's 6

Marvin and Kevin. Likely options picked up. There's 8

Three draft picks, we usually keep our second round picks unless they are euros. That's 11

Carroll, Foye, Mo, All look like they are keepers at the right price. There's 14.

Extend Roger for five years for leadership..........

No, that's fourteen players, all of which are expected to be on the team next year. Yes, things can change, the Jazz might move up in the draft or Marv might bail, or both Al and Millsap might bail, but there is a very likely scenario that this is our team next year.

Let's hope we have a good draft.

(side note, that doesn't leave a lot of room to take on bad contracts with future picks to spend the necessary 85% of the salary cap, should be interesting to see what happens.)

So far we all pretty much are on the same page, so I don't know why we keeo hearing how cool it is we will have cap space. We aren't going to do much with it.

This is my feeling too. Best case scenario we can squeeze a late 1st rounder out of it. I'm also not convinced Millsap or Jefferson will be able to get us a S&T with so many teams with cap space next year.

I agree. I think we've all seen enough of the young players to believe they'll be key parts of the team going forward...unless there's a trade that comes along that we just can't refuse.

Bigs

1. Favors
2. Kanter
3. Jefferson (Jazz FO may prefer Millsap, but I think Paul goes elsewhere and AL returns)
4. Draft Pick
5. Evans (he's locked up as the bench cheerleader)

Wings
6. Marvin Williams (he'll opt in)
7. Hayward
8. Burks
9. Carroll (Jazz will make every effort to re-sign him)
10. Foye (3-PT shooting has made him a priority to re-sign)

PG's
11. Mo Williams
12. Tinsley
13. Draft Pick

Wildcards
14. Murphy
15. Second-rounder

Braille is definitely gone, as is Watson and either Jefferson or Millsap. That's 3 roster spots that will open up. Murphy is on the bubble. If the Jazz keep all their picks, then Murphy and the 2nd-rounder from this summer may battle it out, with the Jazz opting to sign a veteran FA to be the 4th big or backup PG.

Personally, I think the Jazz will be looking to trade their draft picks or at least move up in the draft. There will be some veterans available, either as FA's or in trade opportunities that the Jazz can go after.

I'm actually more optimistic than ever. Hayward has taken a HUGE step forward since January. Burks has shown he should be a solid rotation player. And Carroll looks like a perfect 5th starter or a very good backup, able to contribute without ever having his number called. I'd say DeMarre is that small-time FA we'd be looking to sign. The good thing is he's already on our roster so we may have the advantage in getting him to return.

If a trade comes up for a SF or PG, we look at it. If not, we keep our draft picks, our cap space and have Marvin's expiring at the next trade deadline.

Of course, some of the plans may change a bit if Carroll, Foye and both Al and Paul go elsewhere.

Kanter
Favors
Hayward
Burks
Foye- earned a contract
Carroll- earned a contract
Mo Williams- can't let him walk
Marv Williams- will opt in- he's earned some kind of role
Evans- under contract but very expendable

That's nine for sure

Watson- his career is over- let him go-doubt he even get's signed by anyone
Tinsley- Jazz could probably sign a younger better FA backup to replace him
Murphy- will have top fight for a roster spot
Millsap, Jefferson- not sure what KOC would be thinking, make reasonable offers to both, see who accepts.

If Jazz keep both first round picks they get guaranteed contracts
One of the picks should be a PG
The other BPA

This years FA crop is very weak, no all star caliber player that might want to play for Jazz
Jazz must have some surprises up their sleeve since they did not make a trade

Favors
Kanter
Burks
Hayward
Evans
Murphy
Marvin (player option)
Carroll (3 years / $10 million)
Mo Williams (2 years / $16 million)
Randy Foye (3 years / $21 million)
Al Jefferson (4 years / $58 million)
Chris Wilcox (1 year / $3 million)
1st Round Pick (ours)
1st Round Pick (GSW)
2nd Round Pick

I think that's what will happen, whether I agree with it or not.

Good post. I could also see us trading a pick to move up or pick up another vet. I hope its move up in the draft for a pg. Burke or Smart would satisfy me I think. Not sure who is better, but one of them would be nice.
