I'd only be able to link to the mobile version of the article, but Derek Fisher will sign with OKC today for the rest of the season. It seems pretty hypocritical since he asked the Mavs to release him so he could spend more time with his family.
 
Yea the more times this happens the more I think Jazz fans have a strong argument regarding his departure from Utah. I use to respect the guy but I no longer do. He seems like a slimy individual.
 
Derrick Fisher is a self serving POS. This is the 2nd time he has used his family to get out of a contract for nothing but selfish reasons.

I'll disagree with you on the bolded part. Yes it sucked when Fisher got released by the Jazz and went right to the Lakers and helped them win more championships. But I still see that as Fisher simply making the best of a horrible family situation. I didn't see any evidence that he was unhappy during his time with the Jazz. That aside, asking to be released from Dallas to spend time with his family only to sign with OKC now absolutely makes him look like a big-time POS.

It's the same thing as he did to Utah. Exactly the same thing. If he was worried about his daughter he would have moved to NEW YORK where her doctor was.

This instance just proves that he knows it works and decided to use it again.

The only reason anybody was behind him before is that they could not believe he would use his family for such selfish reasons. Well he just did it a 2nd time. Making the evidence against him from the 1st time even more conclusive.
 
Fisher should just retire from the NBA. You can't jerk around your employers like that. Most people in the real world want
to be with their family more, wished they could work less, work closer to home etc. Get over it Fisher you don't even work all year.

So maybe it's time for the haters to apologize. Those of us who called Fisher out for signing with the Lakers - instead of New York or New Jersey or one of the other EC teams - were blasted in this forum.
 
Meh. Who cares? He isn't good enough to play and he is slumming his way to another chance at a ring.
 
Utah did the right thing on a moral by releasing Fisher, but they should have explored a trade with the Lakers for business reasons. It might have only landed Utah Jordan Farmar and Brian Cook, but that is possibly better than what Utah did with the newfound cap room.

He completely used his daughter's eye thing to get out of his contract with the Jazz. He moved to LA for "medical reasons" while his kid still received treatment in NYC? And he terminates his contract with Dallas to be at home with his family only to re-up with OKC a few months later?

I just don't buy his consummate professional bull**** act. How about that nice little five-day hiatus he took after he was traded to us from GSW?

...not a fan. Of course it didn't help that he shot 39% from the floor the one season he played for us.
 
vindication. I have been calling Fisher a liar this whole time. It was obvious a hell to anyone with a brain he is a fraud and a liar. Also look at his track record with players association. What else do people need? I'm surprised the media doesn't call him out.
 
I was very happy that he left the jazz regardless of the reason..... other than the 1 huge game he had against the warriors in the playoffs, he sucked

I would rather have maynor or reggie jackson, so i hope he has fun being the 4th point guard on the thunder.

I would like to commend you on your ability to "work the system" using your child's medical condition as a means to further your career agenda and to get out of that miserable situation in Utah . Absolutely brilliant.

I don't get why a bigger deal isn't made about that. Fisher knew that Hunter was taking money from the union, but he didn't make it public until Hunter did something to him. It's been a while, so I forget the details, but **** that guy.

If okc wants to have him then by all means take him.

Suddenly, the team that looked so smart is looking utterly stupid. Traded away harden... And now signing fisher... You're definitely rdy for the second round of another *** kicking from the heat.
 
I wonder where his daughter is getting treatment in OKC ... how disingenuous can a person be. I hope the players vote him out of their union, as if it matters to any of us. Just don't like seeing someone like him being a spokesperson for the NBA.
