this guy? i think he fits great. because he doesnt displace gordo to the 3. he will fall in line. plus he just flashes. its crazy. if thats the trade up target im down. koc knows more than i, for sure
but ive always seen a jazz lineup with kanter, favors a big low volume lockdown defender ,gordo and burks, collectively it will be a matchup nightmare
the heat and knicks for instance put their cap into one small cycle (knicks: Melo-Chandler-Amare) u know the heat,
i contend the jazz are setting up for 2 cycles a guard or wing rotation and a bigman rotation and theyre gonna make sure the guys closest to the middle of the spectrum all have synergies, we are close, for sure. also i think thats kind of how cal runs his offense as ive been lead to believe, is that a characterization? i started thinking in these terms because of listening to what he had to say at memphis, about the tyreke evans PG situation.
EDIT: also if were gonna haul al around, we cant have more protection for him possibly then what favors and poythress can provide as help defenders.
EDIT 2: ive already outlined the threats at SF coming into this league the next 2 years, why not grab a defender at that position who wont need to backdown because hes supremely prepared, our cards lie in the bigs and the guards, who not get a glue guy that flashes like THAT.
we are still building assets, he can be leveraged into wiggins.
EDIT 3: Shabazz who i believe to be a gem, says he couldent score on Poythress during the McDonalds All-American Practices, when it was well perceived that shabazz was vastly more polished then the class(before noel re-classified)

Well if you take into account everything that he brings to the table and what would likely translate:
- Steady hand, low TO (independent of competition, this should translate)
- Pace & quickness (independent of competition, this should translate)
- Game control, composure, good decision making (might take time to adjust, this should translate)
- Sees the floor well, passing 7 assists per game (might take time to adjust, this should translate)
- Shooting high 40% 3's (taller defenders, Question mark)
Then there are things we know he might struggle with:
- Finish at the rim due to height/lack of athleticism (Question mark - although if he develops the high floater as he's been known to have improved on, this could help)
- Defense (Question mark)
Then if you adjust your "expectation" for a #18 pick say, then I think you say that, well there are some questions marks there, but if he can be a steady hand at the PG position and let's just say his ceiling is Jamaal Tinsley who sees the floor, set people up and hit the occasional 3's on a consistent basis, then I think he's worth the #18 pick IMO.
Basically his ceiling might be low, but because his fundamentals are sound, there is a pretty good chance that he reaches whatever ceilings you estimate he has.

Also this is why I think we should pick Burke & GR III at say #18 and #21 respectively if that happens to be the case.
You have a low ceiling and low risk in Burke but you also have high ceiling and high risk in GR III, which gives you a well rounded investment portfolio.
(Note: Of course if you can trade up, or move to a potential lottery pick in '14 then do that too)

i just wonder this as someone whos repping 2 michigan players, why are you inclined to believe GR III declares this year? i have seen him mostly in the top ten of the 2014 draft. bbiab

IMO we desperately need a point guard but Oladipo's the way to go. If he measures out at greater than or equal to Hayward in standing reach/wingspan, he needs to be our guy. Lockdown defender, greatly efficient on offense, athletic. Imagine Hayward at the 2, Oladipo at the 3, Favors at the 4, Kanter at the 5 on the defensive end. That could be insane defensively, with the right coach anyway. If we slide, which I think we will, we may be able to get Burke with our pick and then, we may be able to package our GS pick with Jefferson to move up to around #10 to get Oladipo. Possibly. Doubtful but possible. Pray Noel comes out.

I just want to add too that the one thing that every single championship team is not a dominant center, or a dominant wing, or a dominant defense. It's an alpha male who leads and isn't afraid to grab control of the team and demand greatness of his teammates. Oladipo is exactly that type of guy.

Infinitely better shooting, better overall defense (Ronnie was very good but Oladipo is sick lockdown), and most importantly a nonstop motor and leadership. He could say follow me and put guys on his back.

I'd do that. I doubt any other team would though. A lottery team by definition would want no part of Jefferson IMO.
But yes I agree Oladipo is an ideal Utah Jazz player. I can imagine him being a combination of Brewer & Korver, which is a magical combination of stingy, tough defense with sharp shooting.
You also get coach Crean as his personal advisor/motivator, a 2 for 1 deal.

Yeah but I'm hoping SF. He's listed as 6'5" but if you watch him, he looks VERY long and plays even longer and above the rim so based on the eyeball test, I'd say if Hayward can play the 3, I'd definitely guess Oladipo can.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...he may be shooting 51% from 3, but it's only on 1.7 attempts. That's a decent number of attempts, but not enough to call him a sharp shooter ala Korver.
