What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

Glen Robinson III then. Great specimen. Definitely motivated to get to the rim. Can shoot it, can dunk it. Already has great relationship with Burke. Not to mention great genes.

He is projected as the 6th overall pick next year by DX. Why are you so certain he comes out this year?

With Hayward playing so well at the SF position lately, I feel like another SF is not a need.

PG is still an issue though.

Does he really need money that badly? Isn't he a pro baller's son? I think he stays unless he really gets a solid promise to go top 10.

There's still always a risk though. Also with new talent coming along next year which is projected to be a loaded year. I think if I was him and I'm projected around #14-#16, I'd rather come out. We'll see though.

My thing is - get a safe pick in Burke, then with the next pick go with someone with HUGE upside but hasn't played up to it yet this year (diamond in the rough, go-for-broke type pick).

Hayward got worked against Pierce, the only time he was actually guarding a real SF on the court. He was guarding Bradley or Terry the other parts of the game. I think we have a need for a SF with length and skill to match.

Dude has those alien hands like Kahwi Leonard and Rondo.

Thanks Cy, interesting prospect. He looks kinda like Durant, thin and long. Always a bit hesitant though to pick a player who we know might struggle shooting though (Biyombo, Singleton,...) the list is long and it's just too difficult to put them on the floor.

My backup plan to Otto Porter:

Given the possibility that Porter may be out of the reach, I say we draft Burke/McCollum with our 1st pick, then use our 2nd pick to get this guy. I have no idea what his stock is, but it seems like he has Batum potential and could sky rocket from being unheard of to the 20's. Pick him with our 2nd pick and stash him in Europe for 2-3 years. Once we have the C4 locked into their 2nd contracts we bring this guy in from Europe, ready to get to contribute on a rookie contract, ala Tayshaun Prince on the Piston's championship team.

He is shooting 34% from deep as an 18 year old. Pretty good in my books considering how huge his hands are. We would draft and stash, then bring him in once we have our C4 under their 2nd contracts.

I honestly think Utah either trades both picks to move up and nab someone like Porter/Burke/MCW, or they use 1 pick and use the other to draft a Euro (Saric would be my other choice) they can keep in Europe with a solid plan to bring him in once our current young guys are paid their 2nd contracts.

detokunbo's talent was recognized by first division Spanish team Zaragoza in December when they elected to sign him to a four year contract. He will move to the ACB next season—barring complications with his passport—but reportedly has comfortable NBA out clauses at the end of each year, including this summer. Adetokunbo's agent, Giorgos Dimitropoulos, says that he will almost certainly be entering his name in the 2013 NBA draft to gauge his prospects, and that there is an “80-90% chance” he will stay in. While nothing is set in stone at the moment, NBA teams likely wouldn't mind leaving a talent like Adetokunbo in Europe for a couple of years to develop on a team like Zaragoza that is known for working very well with young players.

My favorite part is bolded. The Jazz could get him any year for the next 4 years after drafting him. No expensive buyouts or Euro ******** to deal with.

Also, good to see that he will be on a team that won't just sit him on the bench because he isn't a long-term prospect for the team.

I missed that game completely due to work stuff. The other games he was playing SF he looked very comfortable and he obviously succeeded.

Cippers SF's : Butler and Barnes (Decent role players)

Warrior's SF's: Barnes and ??? (Rookie SF and SG's who they play at SF)

I like Hayward as a defender and all, but he has neither the length or strength (I think you have to have one or the other) to guard top tier SF's.

I'm certainly intrigued especially because, like you already pointed out, he can be stashed for a year or more.

What I like:
Versatility
Length
Athleticism
Age

What I don't like:
Motor
Shooting
Lack of fundamentals
Potential

I like potential normally but lately I'm so turned off by it because it feels like that is the excuse we keep hearing from the Jazz as to why certain players are not playing, not being ready etc.

If the Jazz don't draft Saric and do draft a PG in the first round I would like to take a chance on him.
