He has probably been offered contracts by a few teams but he is trying to create competition to get more money.
 
If the Jazz are willing fork it over, Watson would be a great additional and shore up our backup PG spot nicely.

He had a really good stretch last season as a starter. I would love to see him on the Jazz.

AWESOME! This offseason has been full of surprises and it could be really good or bad. I did not see this coming. Sign Kyle Weaver and Erick Dampier now, too.

I hear he was promised the 1. Deron will have to earn his minutes! No more jackpotting around on the beach, cliff diving, or playing dodgeball.
 
Same news, but a little more detail and confirmation. tribjazz tweets "Todd Ramasar, agent for Earl Watson, confirms that the veteran guard has committed to signing a guaranteed deal with the Jazz.

Latest tweet says "Watson's deal could be one where it only becomes guaranteed if/when he makes team."
 
Watson has been a lot better than I expected him to be in our offense. With Indiana once again in disarray, it seems likely that the reason he didn't look very good last season is the same reason no point guard ever looks very good in Indiana -- the worst coach in the NBA, Jim O'Brien. Whatever the case -- I said Watson sucked. I no longer think he sucks. So I have to eat a little crow.

To whoever gave me necro-rep from a post I made nearly four months ago in this thread: Learn to let things go. There's no reason to hang onto that kind of anger month after month after month.
