Debunking the "losing is bad for culture" people. To win a title, you have to suck.

A bit off-topic, but what do you see in Corbin? Judging by your username and the fact that you made your account before Sloan quit, I'm wondering if it's because you know him or have met him before.

I changed my name after Corbin became the coach. I just thought it was funny. Nothing to do with my like for him. I just see him on equal field as the players. He is a young coach and still learning. I feel like we should give him enough time before we completely give up on him. I just feel like 2.5 years is kind of short changing him. I'm interested to see what he will do if he is given a more cohesive team that naturally fits better.

The Spurs had what, 1 bad year, is that really "losing culture". I would define losing culture as being in the bottom 10 teams of the league for at least 3 years.

What?

Now I have no idea what you are arguing.

I don't want a losing culture. Have you even read anything in here?

WTF

This just goes to show that people will argue just to argue. With no real purpose to learn anything.

First I've never been for missing the playoffs. I'm making an exception this year. I don't want Al back I'm sick of seeing Starvin Marvin and the two old pg's being run out into the game, and who knows maybe Ty will get fired, but I'm sure as hell not going to come on to jazzfanz and lie and claim I'm not rooting for failure. I am, and so is everyone else who doesn't want to make the playoffs

Stop lying! You guys sound absolutely retarded saying "yes I want to lose, but that doesn't mean I am rooting for failure". I've never heard anything more ridiculous in my life. Lol.......

Truth: there is no template to winning. you don't have to lose to win, you dont have to do __________ to win. it's impossible to win a title without ________, until a team does it.

The jazz made the playoffs for 15 or so years in a row before making two finals appearances in a row, and not just sneaking in the back door, they were 60 win teams. And had they not gone up against Jordan we probably would've had one or two championships.

Can Al lead us to a title?

Show me one team that won an NBA title without a great draft pick.

I never said that. Was just pointing out youNever said he could, just pointing out that you don't have to suck to win.

What team went to the finals without a few bad years first?

If you don't think Al can lead us to a title, why is he getting so many minutes.

The whole point of this was to show that we shouldn't be playing Al and in some respects Paul so much, but we should be playing the young guys, especially Kanter more. And it's ok if we struggle in doing so.

Having a losing season does not mean you are automatically Minnesota.

Here is another example: the Utah Utes probably make a bowl game last year if they stick with Hayes. BUT, if they go out and win 9 games this year because Wilson has experience from playing last year, will anyone be sad the Utes didn't go to a crappy bowl last year?

Yep, so why the hell would we need to tank, why is losing good? We have what we want.
We don't. We need to play the picks we have. We should have been playing them more last year. To not be playing them enough all year this year is pathetic. To have a coach who only plays the players that should be playing when the players who should not be playing are hurt is pathetic.
.
Frankly playoffs or not this year never should have been in the conversation. We should be talking about how our youth are handling the starting roles and if they are improving so we know what pieces to put around them this off season when we have flexibility. Instead we are going into the biggest off season since we signed Boozer and Memo with no clue who are young players can be. We are not a title contender and were not from day 1. So the way the rotations have been handled all year is the primary reason a lot of us have been through with Corbin for a long time.
.
Basically our coaching staff has been very short sighted and is impeding the future of this team.

All you are doing is arguing the morality of it. Im arguing strategy. Big difference. You and others think its a cardinal sin to tank, as if it were cheating or something. Im arguing its good business.

What morality? I'm arguing on the intersection of basketball and human nature, which your strategy overlooks.

I'd bet you were one of those who jumped all over Corbin for his "only one game" nonsense. Yet, you want to adopt an "only two seasons" strategy. If a coach walks into a GMs office after losing 3 straight games, and the GM is blase about it, the coach picks up on that. The next time the team loses, the coach passes that attitude onto the rest of the team. That's how humans operate.

Dealing with loss when you are trying to win builds character. Dealing with loss when you don't care about winning builds bad habits.
