Following potential 2013 draftees

Trey Burke is the best off the dribble shooter in college basketball. He makes 41.5% of his attempts which leads the nation.

Yeah saw that a few weeks back - he didn't shoot so well today though.

Did you remember what the commentator today was saying about the more shots Burke puts up, the more likely his team loses? I don't remember the exact stats, but wasn't like if he puts up 20 or more shots, his teams went 0-5 in those games?

He put up 22 shots today and Michigan lost.

Burke has only put up 20+ shots four times this year and all of those games Michigan lost. I don't remember what the analyst said though..

McAdoo is not a SF. He's a small PF. That's why he has dropped from 4 to mid.
Are you saying this because he's not much of a long distance shooter or is he too slow to guard other sf's or what? He seems quick enough for me. I saw him as a sf who could play a few minutes at pf here and there. But I defer to you as you know way more then me. So why can't he play the three spot?
Ha, a guy I used to work with would always call me Toni Kukoc.

why? Do you look like him?

Not latterally quick enough, not enough balls skills, can't shoot, can't shoot, can't shoot, can't shoot, can't shoot, can't shoot, can't shoot.

I see them as pretty equal. I think MKG is a bit better at everything but shooting. Dipo can actually hit if he is open, MKG can't. In my eyes they are both heavily dependent on going to the right team.

Of all the lottery teams, the Timberwolves would probably be the best fit for Dipo.

I guess I never saw the hype with MKG. His effort level was nice, but I didn't see an animal. From what I've seen, Oladipo is both more tenacious and a better shooter. The things MKG is supposedly better at are more gravy and less meat.

I think if Burke was more athletic and had more speed he would be in the top-5.

I'm officially on the Burke bandwagon. For what it's worth, Rick Majerus told us at his basketball camp years ago that the two slowest point guards in the NBA (at the time that he said this) were Andre Miller and John Stockton, but at the time, they were leading the league in assists and were scoring well. Majerus said that speed matters to a point, but that effectively using change of pace and change of direction actually matter a lot more. I remember him saying that the average NBA point guard needed three speeds to be effective in the NBA and that Stockton wasn't quick nor fast, but that he had six speeds... He dissed Jacque Vaughn pretty hard saying that he would never be an NBA player because he only played at two speeds, fast and slow... he also said that Stockton didn't look like he had a fancy handles, but it didn't matter because he could change direction as well as anyone in the NBA.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that Burke is plenty fast enough, and it looks like he has great hesitation moves/has great control over the pace he plays at. He doesn't seem to really rely on going full bore all that often. I'm a fan and I don't think his lack of top end speed is going to be his limiting factor in the NBA.

Great post & thanks for the anecdote. A very encouraging take on Burke. I really like how he always probe and try to see all the options. His handle is so good as well, keeping the dribble alive giving him that extra time to make that extra pass.

Would rep but I have to spread it around first :(

We all knew he isn't a scorer/shooter. Those turnovers are a killer though, he gets out of control sometimes and loses the ball.

Exactly - that's what I'm worried about. He can make plays, but can he run a team? We know Burke can.

That's why it may be crucial to overtake Dallas and get that #12 pick.

Realistically the farthest the Jazz could fall is 12th. Dallas is 31-34, Portland is 30-34, and the Jazz are 33-32. I could see them easily getting passed up by Dallas and Portland, the good thing is Michigan got bounced out of the Big 10 tournament early and Burke can't dominate and help his stock out any. I feel like Michigan needs an early exit from the NCAA tournament as well just to make sure Burke doesn't get too high in the draft rankings.
On a side note wouldn't it be cool to see Burke get drafted at #12 just like Alec Burks did?
