Adjustments on the Memphis game

I think there were several adjustments done yesterday:

  • Hayward starting (obviously).
  • Millsap was shifted on Marc Gasol w/ Al defending Randolph. I believe this could have been to preserve Al from the Gasol PnR.
  • Ty subbed Al for defensive purposes late in the game.
  • Big Lineup was back.
  • Rotation was shortened.

Discuss.

His big adjustment is everybody is now healthy so Burks, Carrolle and Kanter are back to the bench. Jefferson 37 min. MO 35 min. Watson, Foye and Marvin Williams more minutes than Burks or Kanter.
.
I'll give him this. I nearly **** myself when he pulled Al to close the game. He also played Favors more minutes than Millsap which was almost as shocking.

Marvin over DeMarre -- not only that, no minutes for DeMarre. And too much Watson and Foye. Fortunately, Foye hit a couple of big threes, but that's not to say Burks or DeMarre wouldn't have made those wide open j's. Ty's turds get bigger with every game. I can't stand another year of Ty. I'll have to follow another team.

Like always some things that are heartening an some things that are mind blowingly idiotic. Right on for the Big Al sub for D. Well done. Kanter and Burks got 10 minutes or less. Idiotic.

Jazz were playing a team that was dead tired and still almost lost an 11 point lead with 2 minutes to go so I dont think they took advantage of memphis by running them enough that they wouldnt had that surge late.

By they did do good enough to beat a tuff a team. They are now 15-5 over the last twenty.

I thought switching Millsap onto Gasol was pretty huge. Paul was really struggling to keep ZBo from getting deep post position. He's also a bit better defending high post players (more active hands than Al, making it more difficult for Marc to find passing lanes).

Looks like Enes will only be used to give Al a breather. This was the first non-blowout game with all Jazz bigs healthy since the Jazz lost to Boston on February 25th (Millsap didn't play the last 18 minutes against Chicago, hobbled). In the Boston game Enes played 12 minutes, last night he played 10. Enes doesn't look great in the boxscore from last night, but I think he played quite well, putting a lot of pressure on Marc Gasol at times. He still managed to score 8 points on 8 possessions (7 in the halfcourt), despite 3 freak blocks and a missed J that looked good. Dude is contributing even when his shots aren't falling.

Yup. Well-coached game by Corbin IMO.

I think the reasoning behind less minutes for Kanter was due to our strong 3rd quarter. Al played through the entire thing, and that entire unit was rolling.

I thought keeping Favors in was pretty smart as well, as Prince was doing absolutely nothing.

Well-coached by Ty-- especially when we could have bent over, and taken it after almost being 10 down in the opening minutes.

I want to see this sort of performance against a good offensive team though-- Memphis is known for their stellar defense. I have with in our offense, but none in our defense.

Hopefully we can have this sort of performance against the Rockets.

********. Look at the boxscores. Dude doesn't get more than 10-15 minutes with everyone healthy in non-blowouts. Corbin is flexible with Favors' and Milsap's minutes, but has yet to show any willingness to adjust Al's and Enes' minutes based on performance/matchups.

The biggest thing was that it looked like the players actually gave a ****.
Yep. I thought Gordo showed a lot of energy early in the first, and Al showed a lot late in the first. Favors also competed at a higher level than he has in a while.

I thought his best move was the big 3 lineup..... something he should have been doing when it allows (due to matchups) all year long.

I mean everyone knows that our bigs are our strength and that we have a logjam there.

So the easiest and most obvious solution would be the big 3 lineup.... yet he never uses it cause foye and marvin need thier minutes due to thier veteran status.

Great job going with the big lineup last night.... now i want moar

Maybe they would have missed them and we woud have lost, who's to say. Foye is a far superior shooter to Burks and Carroll.

Awesome. The players cared for once.

Color me unimpressed. After getting steam-rolled in the playoffs last year, they should have come in pissed off in every minute of every game this season, wanting to prove a point. Corbin should have to. As soon as they showed any sign of laziness or apathy, they should have been pulled and ****ing taught a point, that that **** won't stand and that they're on the floor to be ****ing warriors and show the world who the ****ing Utah Jazz are. Instead, Ty's shown he's pretty much a bitch and simply catering to Al because he's afraid Al's feelbadz will be hurt and his confidence shattered if God forbid he sits him a few minutes into the game when he's slow and lazy. He's refused to bring him off the bench or like you said tinker with his minutes.

One game of Ty doing the semi-right thing doesn't make up for the other 65 games where's he pretty much sticking to a ****ty script.

Yeah, Ty's shown a willingness these last two seasons to tinker with everyone's minutes/role except for Jefferson. Really strange.

Very scary as well. We know Sloan had a say in personnel matters. Lets hope Corbin has no say.
