Kirelenko in Trade talks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear from my sources that the Jazz are really motivated to trade AK prior to Nov 9th. Blizzard is releasing Cataclysm. AK wants to be the first Mage to level to 85 on WoW.

Don't act like you don't know what I am talking about. I saw a guild named Latter Day Soldiers.

I forgot how to speak nerd.

The point I make with McGrady is that at worst he expires. Anything passed that would have been a bonus. Had we traded for McGrady, we wouldn't be in this luxury tax predicament. If we had traded for McGrady, we also wouldn't have to choose betweenn one year of Kirilenko or next year of 9+ million to Diaw.

So we do the trade for McGrady and his $22 million dollar contract last year and give up AK and his less than $18 million. That gives us 4 million more dollars in LX tax last year on top of what we paid for a player that never even got on the floor until January, and even after that sucked. Were as AK was playing the Best ball he has played in 4 years during the time TMac was rehabing. So last year they save 4 million (8 if you add it as LX tax) and loose games that AK helped you win. The Jazz were pulling for one more shot with the team they had. And if AK and Okur stay healthy who knows they might have gone further. To me they made a sound desision with when it comes to that deal.

I never said that he could play simultaneously on both sides of the floor as you suggest. Let me ask you something, if you could pick right now, you really would've traded AK for Carter? or Tmac? really? Tracy "first round exit" Mcgrady? Vince freaking Carter? i know i wouldnt.

Yes and yes. I really think you're missing the point. The question is, would you rather have nothing right now and be under the luxury tax or would you rather have Diaw at 9 million for the next two years? That's the real question.

When you stop giving the guy the ball, he can't very well affect the game now can he?? ;-)

But wait, I thought Andrei dominated the game without having to score? I thought his 5 x 5's affected the game plenty. I thought his defense and energy went far beyond the boxscore. Are you telling me Boozer took that from him, too?

Haha your a funny guy. I never said anything about scoring, it's all about touches.

Not having the ball on offense doesn't mean he can't defend on the other end. Andrei himself said that when he doesn't get "touches" he doesn't play as hard defensively. That's a %*%%^$* attitude from a guy getting MAX money. This season will be no different. Jefferson and Millsap are both more efficient and better options on offense. AK will again be the 4th - or even 5th - option and will start complainign about his role after a couple of weeks.

Since when did he say he doesn't play as hard defensively. I think the point is that when he doesn't get touches, he loses involvement in the game and that affects his defensive intensity. He's an energy type player and if he stands around on offense, it affects him on defense. If you have played basketball, I think this is understandable, especially if you are that type of player. And when was the last time he complained about his role? Two, maybe even three years ago? I think he has pretty much accepted being a role player with the Jazz.

Kind of disconcerting that the trade hasn't fallen apart yet (assuming we want AK to stay). The reports were that NJ, CHA, UT were growing impatient; that Sunday would be the key day. But Monday is now here (though very early). The limbo seems to be holding. Since they're not backing out as they seem to have threatened, seems like NJ, CHA, UT must really want the trade.

Charlotte and NJ certainly want it ... guess KOC has to be lying then if the Jazz want it. If KOC turns out to be a liar, he's going to get a lot of flack from fans.

Of course Charlotte wants it - they dump Diaw for Harris!

If this trade happens Charlotte needs to be excluded. We want Harris.

This sums it up for me perfectly.

From Lockedonsports:
Jazz fans feeling about AK summed up: you love him 4 following JS and KM; u love his unique game, u don't want him traded, but ...... u hate his contract, u hate his injuries, u want him to be 04-05 AK and u aren't sure your excited he isn't being traded.

We have a guy named Deron Wiliams who plays that spot. If we trade we need a true wing player back. With Hayward unproven and Bell coming off an injury and CJ still inconsistent a true wing must be brought back.

Yes, I'm aware of Deron Williams. The only players mentioned thus far have been Boris Diaw, Devin Harris, et all. Between them I'll take Harris to backup DW rather than Diaw to backup Millsap. Both Harris and Diaw make the same amount of money so lux tax savings is the same AND Harris is an infinitely more attractive trade piece than Diaw.

Get best player you can out of the deal - regardless of position.

I'm not aware of any wing players mentioned other than Quinton Ross. And Melo. One we won't get and the other we don't want.

If he's standing around on offense, he's not an energy type player. Those two are typically mutually exclusive. Standing around on offense also won't help the fact that he's not getting any touches, either. He got touches early in his career because he would move around without the ball. If you haven't noticed, for the past 5 years his off-season focus and the talk of the town has been all about his jumpshot. His standing around waiting for a jumpshot is counter-productive and has never been where he got touches from.

I doubt it. GlassEater is under the impression that KOC had been plotting the Jefferson trade for a year and that last season he traded Brewer so he could get an obscurely protected pick in hopes of the stars aligning this summer to be able to acquire Jefferson with that pick. All KOC has to do is wait for the dust to settle and people will start to believe what he tells the media, regardless of how implausible.

If we trade we need a true wing player back. With Hayward unproven and Bell coming off an injury and CJ still inconsistent a true wing must be brought back.

I think people tend to forget those two aspects. Had we have dealt Andrei earlier in a salary clearing deal [cue everyone saying how we never had the opportunity and that KOC would have taken it if he could] we could have either a) retained Korver [cue response of one-dimensional player, bad shooter, doesn't play defense, slow, etc.] b) retained Matthews [cue comments on how KOC can find us another diamond in the rough] or c) used our MLE on someone else [cue nobody available]. But, as it turns out, because of inaction Andrei really is our best (only) option as a wing player. There are plenty of players in the league who are simply average that would probably fit into our team dynamic better than Andrei, but Diaw doesn't happen to be one of them. Had we have traded Andrei for any of the previous options we wouldn't be stuck here having to choose between two bad things.

This may be the only half way decent post out of 24 pages.....

The trade is not final. Therefore, negotiations still could be made. For instance how about Gerald Henderson and Diaw. Charlotte does not have Felton anymore and would be a complete deal breaker for them if they dont get Harris.
