What's new

NBA weigted standings? New playoff structure?

I do hope that they look at something like this but much more simple. Just take the top 16 teams and then call it good.

Too bad its an April Fools gag. NBA needs something to breath some fresh air into the league and the playoffs. League is dying quicker than baseball, Emporer Stern has no clothes and nobody dares say anything.

I agree.

Pretty sure the Finals last year had the best TV ratings ever.

I wish there was a solution to the end of the regular season. It's so boring watching the ****ty teams either tank, or just not give a **** enough to compete. I don't know how you would fix it, but their needs to be some incentive for winning even though you aren't making the playoffs.

Did you watch them? Me neither. IMO that ^^^^^ is a sympton of the sickness, not a sign of vitality.

YEah, I watched it.

Not sure what you are getting at that just because you didn't watch it means it's going downhill.

The jazz bulls finals I think are still #1

2011 Finals were awesome. Best ones that I myself have ever followed thoroughly. Especially in Game 2 when it seemed like Miami was gonna win the series.

2011 was awesome in general. Memphis beating SAS, going toe-to-toe with OKC, DIRK, Brandon Roy having his last hurrah in game 4 against Dallas.

Much better than 2012 IMO.

I have been saying this for a while. It should be the top 16 teams in the league regardless of conference. The Miami Heat shouldn't get a cake wake to the NBA Finals just because the Eastern Conference is not as deep as the Western Conference. However, every playoff series would have to move back to the 2-3-2 format to limit the amount of travel that teams would have to make. Especially if one of the series matches up a team who plays on the West Coast against a team that plays on the East Coast. If the teams in the East won't agree to this, at least give the last playoff spot to the team with the best record regardless of conference (like Major League Soccer). It is simply ridiculous that a Western Conference team that is 10 games over .500 misses the Playoffs (potentially the Lakers this year) when there could potentially be teams in the Eastern Conference that make the Playoffs with losing records (the Milwaukee Bucks right now). The NBA is totally weakening their product right now with the whole East-West thing. Why are they rewarding mediocrity?
