The NBA Needs the Lakers in the Playoffs???

Its been mentioned before, but its easy to make it look like a team gets favorable calls from the refs, there are always bad calls being made...But the Lakers do get a lot of calls, Kobe especially. It has to be an 'unwritten code' or something for the big money making teams/players to get better calls. Cause lets be honest, more people will pay to see the Lakers in the playoffs than the Jazz.

If it is the video I saw then I am not impressed. It notices blown calls from several games. You can make a similar videos about any team in the league.

We may disagree on other things, but we're fully in agreement here. It would be possible to create a similar video for every team in the league by cherry picking isolated lousy calls/miscalls. This only thing this video is evidence of is it's creator's ability to cut and paste/edit footage to create a particular impression.

This conspiracy theory about the NBA grows tiresome. But like all conspiracy theories, the lack of actual objectively verifiable evidence serves to its adherents as further proof as to the insidiousness of the conspiracy.

You get a two week ban pass.

FWIW, some of those calls are so blatant and right in front of refs looking directly at the foul that it's either a show of rigging or how ****ed up league officiating has become. Either way, it's not pulling in fans. I personally can't stand the NBA anymore but watch the Jazz because they're in my blood.

I watch games for the Jazz and Broncos (NFL). Anything not involving those two teams is a waste of my time.

Fact or fiction: The Lakers have been called for less fouls than their opponent in 10 straight games. Highlight next line to see if you are right.

Fact

Dwight has also shot 97 free throws in the past 10 games and if you watched last night you know exactly why the Lakers shoot so many FT's.

The Lakers have been one of the most consistent great NBA teams in the history of basketball. It started more than 40 years ago because of their talent and because its Los Angeles. Then when the salary cap came in, it gave them the opportunity to stay as an NBA elite team. Today the lakers have the salary cap to afford the best of the best players. The NBA obviously makes more revenue when a team from a higher market wins the championship. Thats why (correct me if I'm wrong) only 9 teams have won the championship since 1980 ( 33 years). And after reading Tim Donaghy's book, its obvious the NBA is rigged to a certain extent. They need the big market teams in the playoffs to make money just like any business. So yes a team like the Lakers the NBA doesn't "need" them in the playoffs, but it pads their pocket a lot more if they are their. When a high salary cap team has an elite player like Kobe Bryant and that team is fighting for an eighth seed, be prepared to see some calls that only a team like the Lakers can get. And be prepared to see Kobe at the line Everytime the defense breathes on him. If you watched the game last night, yes the lakers played great, but Everytime Kobe had good defense staring at him he ended up on the line.

Did you know that in the Lakers most recent losses against GS and the Bucks, Kobe shot only 3 less free throws than the entire opposing team, and most were in the 4th quarter when the refs were helping their comeback -- it's not just about Hack-a-Howard, it's also about suck up to Kobe.

I just saw this video. Sorry if anyone else has posted this before.
Made me sick to be honest.

But to be honest I still want the Jazz to lose so Corbin gets fired. So I don't really care.

I do have 6th row seats to the Nuggets game tomorrow. Not sure who I am voting for........ :)

It's an uphill battle for the teams that are not la Boston or Miami to get a championship. This is crap.

The exact same could have been said about Kobe in 08.

Look at wade, lebron, the big 2 in okc, melo, dirk, etc.

The same could have been said about Malone, mj, Shaq, etc in 98.

Superstars get calls. Aggressive superstars who don't settle for pansie *** jumpers get to the ft line.

Again, no conspiracy here. Just common sense. Go watch lone peak play. Their aggressive guards draw more fouls than jump shooting counter parts. Same is true in college. Same is true at the nba level.
