Official Warrior Watch: Draft Pick and Playoff Positioning

Seriously, what rotten mother-****ers. They make the postseason for the 2nd time in 19 years after tanking out of an obligation and to make good on that, they pay out a crappy pick in a crappy draft.

Actually a pretty good pick considering it's going to be a late teens/early 20's pick. I think the players drafted in that range this year are going to be better than those drafted next year in the same range.

I know it's unethical but I think this new GSW ownership is pretty smart & cunning. They are playing within the rules at the end of the day, if we don't take advantage of that - we don't really have anyone else to blame.

What's smart isn't always what's right.

Honestly, do we really feel the crap basketball we've been fed this year deserves to be vindicated with a token "playoff spot" (given to 53% of the league mind you)? A playoff spot gives the Jazz brass an opportunity to pat themselves on the back.... lol, **** that.

To be honest I feel pretty indifferent this year about making the playoffs.

There is a chance we could upset some teams if Mo & Foye are on fire with their 3pt shooting, and Favors really beast it up in the middle. But if we don't make the playoffs, I'd look forward to packaging our #14 pick and #21 pick for a decent player.

It's a win-win IMO whatever happens.

no one is going to take a 14 and a 21 for a good player. When has that ever happened in the history of the NBA. that is just foolishness we are being fed to keep us fat and happy. can't revolt when we're fat and happy.

Well keep both picks then, #14 and #21 is still better than #17 and #21.

that is true. gotta hope we get some good players. I heard talk of T-Hard Jr? Sign me up. Seriously **** the playoffs this year, the season needs to go down as the bitter and utter disappointment that it truly is. No ******** vindicating silver lining. I seriously won't be able to take it.

Now that you mention it, I'd agree with that.

Warriors pick will be 20 or 21. Either way it's Jeff Withey. He'll be a good backup center.

Yeah I totally agree. For the first time ever I'm not worried about the tall white stiff stereotype cuz I actually think Withey will be a good player.

It was their plan all along. They went far into the luxary tax to pay Landry and Jack. Jack was very instrumental in getting them off to a good start.

I wonder if thier plan is to cut expenses by letting Landry and Jack walk at the end of the season and go into full tank mode for the loaded 2014 draft.....they wouldn't, would they?

As long as Curry is healthy for most of the season I don't really see them getting that much worse.

Another crucial game tonight guys: OKC vs GSW. Looking at the remaining schedule it's very likely it could go like this:

GSW 2-2

OKC at GSW (L)
GSW at LAL (W)
SAS at GSW (L)
GSW at POR (W)

HOU 3-1

MEM at HOU (W)
SAC at HOU (W)
HOU at PHX (W)
HOU at LAL (L)

As it stands, any combination of wins/losses which resulted in GSW being 2-2 and HOU being 3-1 would result in them being finished tied for 6th. But HOU has the tie breaker, pushing GSW to 7th - and potentially moving us from #21 pick to #20 pick.

Congrats to OKC for taking over that game in the 3rd quarter. It was a real battle throughout the first half.

I believe OKC owns the tiebreaker over SA (split head-to-head, with OKC having a better conference record). OKC...if they get past Portland tomorrow night (likely) finishes with an easy two home games. That leaves SA with little hope of winning the #1 seed. And that doesn't bode well for Utah. After their home game on Friday, SA is likely to leave Duncan at home for their road games against GS and the Lakers.
