Following potential 2013 draftees

i have received revelation that Olynyk will be the safest bet in the draft. Take him, make him our 3rd big and its all gravy from there.

I think Olynyk is a VERY intriguing prospect. At least from the angle of his general versatility but ESPECIALLY if he can translate his shooting to the NBA.

That said, I'm still focused on a PG.

Hate every PG prospect sans Burke, and I have very very low expectations for him. Olynyk should be a solid defender, smart player, decent scorer. What more can you ask for out of a 3rd big?

Even "needs" are relative. I fail to see how having a third big (especially when you can only play two at a time) is as more important as having a single point guard (that might be still on the team in five years, or at this stage, ANY AT ALL). That's not even taking into consideration that the Jazz have Jeremy Evans and stop gaps that come off the bench are endless in their supply.

Because I cannot see any of the PG's turning into even solid NBA players. The Jazz don't need a rookie to sit on the bench, suck, and then be out of the league. That doesn't fill a need. But hell, I could be completely wrong and 1 or more could turn out to be solid. I doubt it though.

A: He wants me doing the same things that I’ve done. Doing the Nike Hoops Summit, Basketball Without Borders and other things. I will get to see a lot more games in the states as well. Kevin would like me to do some pro scouting, international scouting and also some college scouting. My home in the states is very close to Chapel Hill and there are some great young talents in the ACC and SEC and I’ll be able to watch a few of those games and help out there. I am very excited about this new opportunity. It’s interesting, I used to live in New Orleans and I was doing some TV work when Karl was playing at Louisiana Tech, so I go way back with Karl watching him back then. It’s kind of come full circle with me coming to the Jazz now and I’m really looking forward to it.

If this is the case, I think the Jazz should already have a pretty good handle on who Schroeder is, even well before the Hoop Summit performance.
 
Weight and strength are one of the last things you worry about in a PG. Certainly relative to the rest of the positions, you worry about that issue the least.

I'm not saying that Burke, MCW, McCollum, or Schroder are sure-fire all-stars, but I think most of them will make it to a second-contract (notwithstanding 'acts of god').
