Kendall Marshall

Are you guys ****ing kidding me? Kendall Marshall over possibly Giannis Adetokunbo, Sergey Karasev or Livio Jean-Charles? I GUARANTEE Kendall wont have a fraction of the career any three of those players have. If the Jazz wanted a backup pg or a third option, they could get a hell of a better player in the second round or an undrafted player.

Amen Froggy.

True. It depends who's on the board. No way Greek freak stays on if he's as good as advertised.

First off, there's no way all three of them are there. Secondly, assuming that just because you like a person now means that you think you're positive they're an NBA player is just stupid and the guy you're railing against is a perfect example of exactly that.

I guarantee one of those players doesn't have a significant NBA career. Probably Charles.

There is. Right now they are all projected by DX to be available at 21. Not saying that can't change, but it's far from this impossible thing.

Yeah, it's not impossible. But the likelihood that they're all there is lower than Kendall Marshall being better than all three of them.

I still think we should stash a Euro with one of our picks. I hope it is Giannis at this point, but who knows?

I know I am going to get crucified for this, but I remember a lot of us (including me) liked Marshall coming out of North Carolina because of his pass-first mentality. I know he totally sucked in Phoenix this past year, but I'm not quite sure he got much time to develop and play on a winning team (and the coaching situation sucked too).

I got thinking...would he be a good fit in Utah with our "Core Four"? If he could improve his J a little, I see him being a nice fit. He could really make our bigs look better than they are right now and I just don't know of many young pass first point guards.

thoughts? (please be nice)

I don't think Marshall is very good, but even if he were, what has Ty Corbin shown in the past 3 seasons that makes you believe he would give Marshall sufficient playing time to develop? Just wondering...

I watched Sergey Karasev once on TV.
He is a great scorer, reminiscent of Morrison while playing for Gonzaga.
BUT he is not a PG, he is a dead-eye shooter and can find many ways to score.
He is good, he is damn good in scoring but he looks like a proto-typical Euro guard; slow feet, lousy defence.
I have to add he is one hell of a flopper.
The kind of basketball player, I dislike the most

edit: Westerman on the other hand is a great playmaker and a good scorer, he has size, good court vision.

edit II: I have found this video on Karasev; sounds about right

To be fair, Corbin hasn't had any real choices as far as who to play at PG that was a developing player. It seems that decision is up to management, though. It's obvious Corbin has to have these decisions made for him.

Dream on brother

I know message boards are generally a pretty poor barometer of where a FO is at (especially a team like Phoenix who would be better served to have all decisions made by fan voting), but I took some time last night to gauge where everyone was at with the roster and no one loves Gortat.

On that point, some have totally written off Marshall, but most see no downside to keeping him and seeing how he ends up. Dragic is universally believed (and accurately so) to be the only guy definitely worth keeping. A lot of ambivalence about Scola, and most value him as a late 1st-rounder level value on the trade market.

I think the biggest consideration in not doing such a deal for Phoenix is that they might actually substantially improve and they're all-in on a shameless tank.
