Following potential 2013 draftees

Yeah.. and it wasn't bad at all.. just sharing my opinions. However, I see no chance Noel doesn't go 1 no matter who's selecting there.

I do see 1 possibility.

Magic already has Nikola Vucevic who is playing Center. So they could gives the Smart camp a promise that they'll take him with their first pick, which is likely to be somewhere within the top 3.

If Smart somehow miraculously decides to declare tomorrow this would be 1 of the scenario. Just have to wait & see.

Of course I am. In fact, I always do a mock before the cbb season starts, a year out.. just to compare to how things shake up (just for fun).

But obviously you're not eligible to win though right? With all your scouts contacts, it just won't be fair, no?

Haha.. I don't care one way or the other. I doubt I win anyway.

btw, here's a post I made on November 11, 2011.. the year prior to the '12 draft. Just so you see me 'sticking me neck out.' lol

Here is a link to a Yahoo article about the top 10 draft picks this year. Read it and submit your input please.

No impressed with the list.

1 - 3. Can't argue with Drummond, Davis, Barnes .. in that order.
4. Sullinger - I'd feel uncomfortable drafting him ahead of several guys listed below him. I think he's a dangerous tweener .. too small to play center, not athletic (nor shooter) to play PF.
5. Perry Jones - Loaded with upside but his lack of intensity or 'it' factor makes me place him a couple slots down.
6. Terrence Jones - He's a load and has tons of skill, but he too is a bit high at 6 because of his tweener tendancies.
7. Jeremy Lamb - Maybe .. but the body of work is very small. My prediction is he falls to mid-first round now that Kemba is gone.
8. Tyler Zeller - Solid center that has most everything you need for a very solid backup in the NBA. This draft is too deep and talented to pick a perennial backup in the top 10.
9. Marquis Teague - About right just because he's the best PG in the draft. A bit high based on where he's at right now.
10. Henson - Way too high. I'd put him at 16-18. He's an elite shot-blocker with outstanding athleticism, but his body will get pushed all over the court and he'll never develop much of an offensive game.

Interesting re: tweener.

It reminds me of that Jalen Rose vs Skip Bayless debate, with Rose kept shouting "Positions were created so a novice can follow the game".

But the fact the matter is, if you don't have a position in the NBA, it's gonna count against you when you're getting drafted.

People have different definitions of tweener. I'm not married to any position except PG. Having said that.. 6'6 guys tend not to make good players if they either can't shoot or defend the perimeter.. and people call that player a PF... because of their skillset. I think most people say tweener when they really mean a lack of a well-rounded skillset for their size.

If I had the #1 pick (and even more so if it were 2 or 3) I would try to trade down.. maybe a deal with a lottery team this year that will most likely get a good pick next. Trade the #1 for, say, a #5 this year and a top 10 next year.

(or just trade the #1 pick for Steph Curry) <--- I kid.

right now who do you take at 14 if both are on the board... McCollum or schröder?

This is a really good question.... I'm torn.

My gut tells me that Shroe has a much higher ceiling and that his bust potential is much higher. I'm pretty sure McCollum will find a role in the NBA.

McCollum. I love the thought of playing him with both Burks, and Hayward

McCollum
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Favors

McCollum gives us another shooter, and allows Burks and Hayward the chance to be playmakers and slashers, while still giving us a deadly perimeter shooter in CJ.

these are my thoughts also and cj is a senior so he is more ready to play now.

McCollum by a fair margin. I think he has very low bust potential. Worst case is you get a scoring 6th man like Ben Gordon or Jason Terry. If Schroeder's shot is a mirage, and his passing skills come at the cost of a huge turnover rate, could bust rather badly.

The real answer to xthren's question:

You make a deal to move the 21st pick up to 15. Then, select both.

See sig.

Because I have only seen schro play 1 game and I'm looking for less of a reach/hunch at 14.. McCollum.

However, I've been saying for months that CJ will go around 8 - 10.

maybe it all depends on what comes out from the medical records on his foot and his ability in workouts after he is better. there are a lot of "ifs" right now with him.

he is to hoping smart gets smart and declares.

I don't see the Wiz taking him. But, I think the chances of him going between 9-13 are pretty high.
