Sign Jason Collins

Preach it sister.

Another amazing zinger.

I'm serious when I say this:
I feel genuinely worried for your offspring. I hope that, deep down, you recognize your own serious deficiencies and are therefore taking advantage of every opportunity to put them in the company of other people. I'm sure they're already starved for learning opportunities, having lapped you by age 3.

Why does he care? Also, why does it mean he is immoral just because he is gay? I don't understand this point of view, and I don't like it. And I am a christian person who values my faith in god. To bring religion into this is annoying. ESPN does not need to be talking about sinners and what not. They should talk about sports. I like what Charles Barkley said on tnt tonight. He said "first of all, I want to ask, why does it matter if we know who he sleep with?" It should not matter. Unless it is Kobe, then he should be put away for being a rapist. haha, had to throw that one in there.

He describes unrepentent sinners as gays, people who have premarital sex and adulterous sex.

Ok so then we have.

Gays: Jason Collins.
Premarital Sex: Everyone in the NBA over the last 40 years with the exception of AC Green
Adulterous Sex: Everyone in the NBA over the last 40 years with the exception of Charlie Ward and maybe Doug Christie.

And this puke waits until now to start beating his drum of morality? Just another pathetic attempt by a homophobic a-hole to dress up his hatred. This is akin to say, hey I hate blacks; but you know I hate rapists and child molestors too.

.....jimmy eat jazz.....are you gay?

If I were, so what?

I just happen to think that the Jazz discussion portion of this board should be a place where people can come and participate and not be subjected to personal attacks, or crude jokes, by racist, homophobic, bigoted, etc. troglodytes such as yourself. Why this board and its moderators have tolerated your racist and homophobic arse for so long is beyond me. I think it's time for you to talk basketball and get off your social commentary hobby horse here. Save that for the General Discussion board where it belongs.

Here's what I don't get, what I've never got. According to the OT, adultery is every bit as bad a sin as homosexuality. In fact, the 10 Commandments expressly forbids adultery but says nothing about homosexuality, which suggests that in God's eyes, it's actually a worse sin than homosexuality. I'm 100% certain, moreover, that the NBA has far more adulterers than homosexuals among its ranks. Why is Broussard (and also most Christian social commentators) so worried about homosexuality but not about adultery? One would think that they should be active condemning the latter as least as much and as vociferously as the former. To say nothing about coveting, honoring parents, worshiping false Gods etc. (or to take the OT at its word, eating shellfish, having sex with menstruating women, wearing clothes woven from more than one cloth, etc.) This inconsistency suggests to me that it is indicative less of their honest to goodness moral sense than it is an underlying animus/fear of homosexuality.

You need to fire whoever is writing your material. Don't worry though I tried to give that a nice hearty fake laugh.

I shouldn't be disappointed in the level of discourse from some of you but somehow I am.

I may be rough around the edges, but at least my heart isn't rotting and spreading to my brain.

To sign a player merely based on his or her sexuality would be as foolish as not signing a player based on his or her sexuality. And when you crunch the numbers, Collins is 34 and has awful statistics.

In normal situation I would agree 100%. But I see this as different/unique case. Signing Collins to a minimum contract to occupy 12th man on bench can be a powerful/useful statement to the rest of the league by whoever choose to do it. Plus the demonstration effect showing that having openly gay player does not cause the disruption some fear would also be useful. Plus, let's face it, the 12th man isn't going to play or contribute on the court anyway, so why stress over signing someone who's a marginal player (the 12th man is by definition anyway), but he can contribute in other important ways. I don't see this has any risk of becoming a trend (signing player cause he's gay), but doing so in this case has implications beyond the normal situation. Kudos to the team that does it, in my opinion.

When did Jason Collins come out as gay?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present, Cyrone Torbin.

Even if he could help this team (which he can't) I don't think the Millers want this on their record. Just my opinion. Personally, I wouldn't have any problem with it if he could help us (which I don't think he can).
