We can't sign and trade a free agent until the free agency period (after the draft), and that's assuming Millsap would go along with it.

That was an all time draft with a lot more people and players being drafted. This is just a shorter more casual one. We can actually use 4-8 people rather than 4 or 8. We'll just pit them off all at once. So say we 6 people and draft 5. We can just do it in here too. It would take just a couple days.

Are we allowed to have an agreement in place where they draft who we want, and we draft who they want, then do the sign and trade when freeagentcy starts?

I haven't written off MCW, but here are some thoughts I've had:
THE BAD
Off the top of my head, Syracuse hasn't produced many good players in recent history. They're probably more famous for their busts than the quality players they've produced in recent years. IN PARTICULAR, should Wesley Johnson (who was at least one [maybe two] years older than his class when he came out) give people pause about how MCW could translate (as MCW is the age of a senior)? I don't know, it makes me more wobbly on MCW than I was before I had the thought.
THE GOOD
I believe a defense that can switch everything is optimal but building a roster that can accomplish that is, has, and always will be the hard part. One of the harder tasks would be to find a PG that you can trust to switch and I think MCW gives you a great chance at that. I also think zone is wildly under-utilized in the league and MCW is also a shoe-in there. You have to be concerned that the kid just has no shooting or scoring touch, but at the same time you have to be encouraged that his form is decent and he has confidence, too.
That said, I'd rather have Shroeder.

I see you are growing a schröder too.
I was sprung very early.
I've been watching some of the Spurs/Warriors game and I have to say--as great a shooter as Curry is, I would much rather have a PG like Parker who can get in the lane and all the way to the rim. You can shut down Curry by putting a bigger defender on him, but you can't shut down Parker.
I'm cool with Schroeder for that reason alone.

A Schroeder / Karasev draft would give us a readymade drive-and-kick game.
Thanks for that write up on MCW. It's very well balanced. I think our views are the same. Given the choice, I'd go with Schroeder (provided his attitude checks out, the last thing we need is another Beasley). But I am very intrigued by MCW and the attributes that he brings.
Take Rubio. He's a pass first PG who was setting the league on fire before his unfortunate injury. Comparing their shot: MCW's shot is light years ahead of Rubio's stroke. Rubio is still struggling shooting wise, but I think MCW can improve because his mechanics are sound.
Dribble/drive: Rubio very rarely attacks the basket for dropoffs or looking to score. He might lay it up once or twice if the lane is open, but that's about it. MCW on the other hand is completely opposite in that sense. He is fearless in the lane. He loves to drive past his man, and either drop it off to a big, or tried to bank it off the backboard.
So, yes, I'd prefer Schroeder, but MCW does intrigue me as I say.
