How about this one?

PG: Deron Williams, Earl Watson, Ronnie Price
SG: C.J. Miles, Raja Bell, Ronnie Price
SF: Paul Millsap, Gordon Hayward, Jeremy Evans
PF: Al Jefferson, Andrei Kirilenko, Jeremy Evans
C: Kyrylo Fesenko, Mehmet Okur (when he comes back), Francisco Elson

I believe that this lineup would be our best bet against the Lakers. If Fesenko can continue what he showed tonight against Portland, wouldn't he be the perfect player have in the game against LA? He is becoming a defensive-minded center that is not completely inept on offense. I have a feeling that he worked really hard on his game over the summer. Stick him next to 6'10", 270 pound Al Jefferson (who can play Power Forward or Center) and you have the makings of a front line that can match up against Gasol and Bynum. Millsap, at 6'8" and 250 pounds, has the speed and athleticism to play Small Forward. This would also push AK into a full Power Forward role, where he seems to excel. Thoughts?

Did you watch when Millsap played SF during the preseason last year? It was, without any question, doubt, or skillet, an unadulterated disaster.

Millsap cannot play SF. Against slow SF's he can. But that may only be Ron Artest.

And even if he can he has not 3 point shot. We want to spread the floor as much as possible.

I swear people who suggest this have never watched Millsap play at SF. He does not have the lateral movement to guard them. End of story.

Millsap should definitely not play the 3. Even ignoring that, with this lineup, how does AK get any minutes? Are you suggesting Millsap plays full time at the 3 and AJ plays all his minutes at the 4? If so, this leaves AK stuck on the bench in favor of Fes.. not a good idea. Let's not get carried away by 1 good preseason game from him.

I think Jefferson will have a better chance guarding Bynum than Gasol, and Okur is decent against Gasol. If we match up that way, Gasol will have to run out all the way out to the 3-point line.

Millsap should be coming off the bench against the Lakers. Their second unit will have a hard time matching up with his energy.

Agree. Jefferson is having a hard enough time learning the Jazz system as it is. Keep him on the low block before expecting him to consistently hit a mid-range shot, which he'd need to do if paired with Fesenko.

I like Okur as a PF when he comes back. He's not going to demand a ton of minutes as he works his way back from injury. Jazz can still give Jefferson and Millsap 33 mins and play Fes and Okur 15 each. Provided Utah meets the Lakers in the playoffs, then that may change.

Then AK and Raja get 30 mins. each at SF and SG, with the remaining 36 mins divided between CJ and Hayward or Evans. Against the Lakers, I think Evans could play some minutes against Artest. And Hawyard could come in at SG when Kobe is out.

the fes, jefferson think can work. Put Jefferson on the right block and fes does some acceptable work at the high post spot. Work the pick off the high post to spring Al down on the block, or Al pulls the double on the block and fes is there for the dive or O reb. You also have raja and williams as the deep threat with AK as the slasher/cutter/facilitator. Pretty good defensive unit as well.

As for Milsap at the 3, No. Have AK play that spot and bring sap off the bench. Milsap plays the right block well and could easily pass out to cj or okur for the wing. Plus Ak plays odom pretty well.

We should start AK, Millsap, and Jefferson. Bring Fess into spell Jefferson -- he'll be suckin wind the soonest -- then bring AJ back in to spell Millsap.

Millsap and AK need to start. AK if only for his psyche, and Millsap because he's earned it. As long as either Millsap or Jefferson are on the floor, we're not exposed, especially against the opponents 2nd unit.

The lineup I think the Jazz should start with is as follows:

Fess
AJ
AK
CJ
Deron

bring Milsap off the bench along with Raja and spell Deron with watson a few minutes a game. When Okur gets back we have a nine person rotation.

I know everyone will say Milsap has to start, but he doesn't. Milsap is instant offense that has proven he can play effectively off the bench. He may not like it, but he is effective in that sixth man spot. Also I like CJ starting over Raja. Raja is a veteran that played off the bench in phoenix a couple years ago. This just makes too much sense not to at least try in preseason.

Sticking to what I've been saying for months and months;

Deron
Raja
AK
Okur
Jefferson

Until Okur is ready;

Deron
Raja
AK
Sap
Jefferson
