Does he? I haven't heard much about how good he is, just that he can score. But scoring in the "mighty" conference of champions at the great height of 6 foot 5-6 with average athleticism doesn't exactly scream Lebron James to me. Hell, there's one PG with better a far better physical profile than him in this draft. There are several PGs who are bigger than this kid in the nba. Is he even as big as Alec or Hayward or junkyard dog? Is he a better athlete than any of those guys?

I'm just trying to figure out why everyone is making it sound like this kid is the next Durant or James or George when his physical profile reminds me of CJ miles or Cuttino Mobley. Can't create his own shot, decent (not great) athlete, avg ball handing, no defense, doesn't pass, bit of a head case, but can score.

Yay.

I really hope we look at other (superior) prospects. Mainly, MCW, German tony Parker, Greek basketball Moses, etc.

If the Jazz draft Plumlee over Bazz or Schroeder, damn, I won't say it will be the final straw but it would be like adding a couple hundred pounds of straw to a camel's back.

Comparing Shabazz to Perry Jones is ridiculous. One had a year where he actually managed to regress despite not really even having a great first year, had injury problems, and seemed to think he was a SG in a center's body.

Shabazz gets dinged for perhaps being a little bit of a SG/SF tweener and a few purported attitude issues. Hardly fair.

I didn't compare both of them. I just said that the drop is similar not the way the drop happens.
Bazz was projected #1 this year and is mocked right now at around 14
I think Jones was projected around #7-10 before the college year and went at 28
 
I'm with Thriller, but I've only seen Shabazz play for about three minutes. I missed the entire college basketball season.

So I guess the question is, why isn't he a top pick anymore? Is it all because of his dad? Or was he exposed even in a crappy basketball conference as being a "meh" player? Perhaps there are concerns about his size and athleticism and if it will translate at the next level? I personally really don't like his physical profile

I have a feeling that if this kid had played at duke or BYU a lot of folks here would be questioning his physical profile a lot more. But because he played at a university known for athletic basketball players and was highly touted coming out of high school, we are giving him a pass.

A 6 foot 5-6 small forward with avg athleticism. Someone help explain to me why he's a better prospect than German tony Parker. Someone explain to me why bazz is so great.

I'm not being a hater. I just want the jazz to take the bpa. I can't stand watching some of these playoff teams knowing that guys like ibaka, Parker, and now George should have been ours. while we are stuck with alfense and bench clippers guards. sigh

Take the damn bpa and move on!

Ok...

A 6 foot 5-6 shooting guard with avg athleticism. Still trying to figure out why he's such a can't miss prospect. Especially when you consider we have Hayward and burks who can play SG. Are we becoming the twolves and only draft 1 position? Wouldn't it make more sense to explore other (better) prospects like German Tony Parker, a more athletic wing, or a big?

I just don't get why this guy is such a great prospect. Seems pretty avg to me. Was it because he came hyped out of high school and played decent in the worst basketball conference in Div I?
 
Talked to a couple scouts this morning. Apparently Shabazz is soaring up darft boards with the news that thriller/oghatino is firmly in the anti Bazz camp.

What I gathered from watching Bazz highlights and reports is he sucks and UCLA had a heck of a PG in Larry Drew II. Can we get him as backup?
