Draft Night Trade to make sure we get Schroeder

The more I look at mock drafts the more I worry about one team and one team only taking him ahead of us and that is Dallas.

So we trade #14 & #21 to OKC for #12 & #29.

Dallas may end up taking a Euro to stash, but its likely that they select a PG and with their deep international scouting and German ties it wouldn't surprise me at all if they went with Dennis Schroeder.

Talent is all about the same from 18-35 so dropping 9 spots later on is fine with me. We can trade out at that point to MIAMI for their Philly pick in the future or we can take a flier on an international kid, or go shooter:

Options that could be at 29: Reggie Bullock, Mohammadou Jateih, Isaiah Canaan, Rudy Gobert, James Ennis etc.

Thoughts?

I approve this message. Rep'd.

My pick would be: #12 Schroeder and #29 Reggie Bullock (or Tony Snell if Bullock is gone)

Those 2 also happened to be my most favorite players in this draft.

Let's get this done Dennis!

I actually don't hate this. I would just really hope there's someone left at 29 that I like (that isn't a reach).

I like this, but I am nervous that our FO doesn't share our passion for Schroeder. Both Bazz and Zeller have said that our guys told them that they liked them at 14. If we moved up, and those guys were still aroumd, I don't think we'd take Schroeder, unfortunately. Hopefully he is dazzling when he works out for us, then maybe I can sleep at night.

Utah's notorious for setting smoke screens. Well, they consider them smoke screens, but they are as obvious as the morning piss you take once you wake up.

I remember almost all of the national and local media were hearing that we were going to pick Knight at #3 a couple years ago.

Lol

I can't wait for the jazz to pull a Raul Lopez and pass German tony Parker in favor of someone who this board hates. Like zeller or plumlee. The collective screams, the moaning on this board, and the threats to picket out in front of the delta center will be epic.

Perfect example of what I'm saying, draftexpress.com

We are predicted to pass up Schroeder and take Larkin instead. Lol!!!

I like it. I feel there is a noticeable dropoff... at 13. I'm serious. I've done a few of my own mocks and I see 13 players separating themselves from the rest.

Also, I don't see any noticeable difference between 21 and 29.. so I like it.

Obviously, it all gets thrown out the window the minute a team takes a 'surprise' in the top 13 (and it will happen) and a top 13 (on my worthless mock) gets pushed down to us.

Therefore, I really like this trade idea but only slightly more than just sitting tight.

If we picked Zeller at 14 I'd be ecstatic... even with Schro on the board.

I am interested in seeing your mock, have you posted it somewhere?

I could live with it too. Remember when he was #1 on some mocks last year?
That was a bit much, but there's no denying he looks like good value now at 14.

My question for you is, does he fit our system? Seems like he would do well with the Suns or Knicks, and a more up-tempo style.

I'm hosting a party at Churchill Downs on Thursday that will have NBA personnel, scouts, media, etc. I'm waiting to post my mock until after that party.

Yeah, at the beginning of this thread I predicted he'd slide but didn't think he'd make it past about 5.. so I think he's a great value at 14.
As for the fit.. I don't know that I know what our system really is. I'd just like to see us assemble the best possible talent and then figure out what system we should run based on that personnel.. adapt (God forbid). Seems, to me, a hell of a lot easier to form the system to the players than dig our heels in on a system and further limit our options for getting top players.

I'm not obvious at all. Sometimes I actually sit down so I won;t make as much noise and wake up the wife and daughter. If the Jazz truly don't believe in Schroder, I could see them taking Zeller if he's there. Jazz need 3 bigs in the rotation...and I'm assuming nether Al nor Paul return.

I can live without moving up to get Dennis, unless in workouts he clearly is someone we have to have at all costs.
If he is gone that means someone has slipped, and we'll have a couple good possibilities.

Now if Dennis is still on the board, and we choose someone like Olynyk, Plumee, or Larkin I'll go ape ****.
