I Think We Are Going Tank City Next Year

They will never tank

BUT, they will sign less than capable players, play the young guys, and if they lose doing that, they would be okay.

The FO has been singing a much different tune as of late. KOC refused to even mention the word rebuild, and when Lindsey first started it seemed like he work around that word as well. Now Lindsey can't stop saying that we're right in the middle of a rebuild, and on a number of occasions he's prepped the fan base by saying we may choose preserve our cap space and not go after any "big" FA's this summer. I used to think we'd never tank, but it at least sounds as if the FO is currently mulling it over.

I don't know about tanking but I think Lindsey understand if we keep staying as a fringe playoff team we will have a hard time ever getting out.

We would never get a top lottery pick and no big FA are coming to SLC anytime soon.

The Jazz must build through the draft.

Didn't Greg mention something similar during the Malone announcement?

Mail and Stock were not high first round picks. So there is value where the Jazz are picking currently if the scouting department does their job.

What's the difference between Pop and Sloan? Tim Duncan. Pop had two late first round picks that turned into All-Star players, and at one time or another, top 5 at their position. Sloan had the same. Pop just had that third player. Could you imagine if you could have given Stockton and Malone a top 5 pick?

We certainly would not be hearing an argument for best power forward in the history of the nba. Malone would be a clear cut #1 with a few championships. Stockton too, there would not be an argument about who was the best at their position.

This organization will tank or be tanked. i predict if staying on this same treadmill monetany jazz will b out of utah in 5 years.

It's impossible for the Jazz to tank.

The young core 4 is good enough to sneak into the playoffs even with Corbin's incompetent-*** running the team... and any vets we sign and play would at least be good enough to limp into 9th-10th in the West (equalling out to the 13th or 14th pick in the draft with virtually a >1% chance of getting in the top 3). Therefore, unless the injury bug bites us hard, this team is incapable of a true tank job.

That's why Lindsey must NOT sign vets like Mo, Randy, etc.

Favors - Evans
Kanter
Hayward - M. Williams (injured) - DMC
Burks - Murphy
#14 pick - McNeal

#21 Pick
2nd-rounder
Rookie or Young FA
Rookie or Young FA

The starting five might stay even with a lot of teams, but the bench will never hold any leads. Jazz may not be bad enough to land in the worst-5, but they could be in the 6-8 range.

I have a lot more faith than I used to that we will finally tank. And now is obviously the time to do it. If we add a top 3 pick in 2014 to the Core 4, we could seriously be a contender within a few seasons.

And that would still give us a great shot at winning the lottery. Plus, any major injury to the C4 would probably bank us a bottom 3 record.
