What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

Less hops, less speed, more IQ

its really not "less"

hes 2 inches taller and jumps 2 inches less than McGee coming into the League.

Both are similarly built, 238 lbs vs 241 on DX, 7 reps on the bench press, and Gobert is marginally slower in a full sprint

Gobert has a bigger frame more room for improvement, Gobert's standing reach is higher than Yao Mings, and 4 inches more than Favors

i much much much prefer Goberts intangibles than McGee, if we take him @14, im psyched.

Less hops, less speed, more IQ

Things with higher iq than Javale McGee. I'll start.

Please, post that s*** tonight bro, thanks!

Or at least impressions from Jazz side of things, you can be a little broad without giving anything away.

My daughter is getting married tomorrow and we have rehearsals, pick up tuxes, etc... today.

Because it was a UK event, all of the unsolicited conversation was about UK players.. and them in the league. I didn't get much, but did get two snippets about the Jazz..

1) There have been recent talks with Philly about trading them our #21 for their two 2nd round picks. (Apparently we were trying to get their #11 but it just didn't gain any steam.)
2) Jazz seem to have their eye on McCollum.

I asked a couple people (not from the Jazz but close to a couple Jazz scouts) whether they thought the Jazz were high in Schroeder and/or Larkin. The answers seemed very lukewarm on both. Don't know that that means a damn thing.. which is why I didn't make it a 3rd and 4th item.

The Jazz WERE represented there by at least one scout.. he was pointed out to me. I twice tried to make it over to him but he seems to have left pretty early and I was never able. No Jazz FO there.

btw i actually know someone bigger than Rudy Gobert, as insane as that might seem, infact my friend might be the tallest man from Sudan tho he'll tell you his lil bro is 7'6" (hes a legit 7'4")

ringayuel.jpg

this guy is so tall i used to swear we were plaing on a 9'½" hoop... anyway Goberts Standing reach is 9'7" biggest in the history of the nba, Ring's is actually 9'8" (from what ive read, and observed)

the only reason i bring this up is i dont know of some people understand how large that really is (id suggust goint to stand under a hoop)

im almost 100% certain that standing reach # is flatfooted, meaning if Gobert goes up on his tippy toes in some sandals he might be able to amost dunk without the leaving the ground.... Ring could do that

Do you remember Shagari Alleyne from UK? At midnight madness one year there was a dunk contest and he won the crowd's choice because he dunked without jumping and was holding the rim while barely on his ties, after the dunk.

nope ima look him up now tho, awesome story. my friend Ring could do it so easily, the only logical conclusion i could draw was that the hoop was set at 9'½"...

PKM i think i have been saying something false, Theres no way anyones standing reach could exceed Manute Bol's i cant get a definite # on his standing reach but theres good reason to believe Bol's was over 10 ft, some say 10'½"

oh Alleyne is playing for the Globetrotters (and is from NY!), hes the new George Bell (whos a 7'8" Sheriff in Virginia these days)

2) Jazz seem to have their eye on McCollum.

Congrats re your daughter PKM..

Re Jazz having an eye on McCollum, I do believe that could be true. It seems Dennis Lindsey is really trying to put his stamp on the franchise this offseason - he said he had talked to Ty about implementing certain things from the Spurs system - I do believe he's talking about doing more pick & roll action with Kanter & Favors.

Of all the PG talent this year, McCollum seems to be the best PnR guy.

Wow the more I think about it, the more I'm liking Catchall's idea of our #14 and #21 for Minny's #9 and #26. We might have to give up a future 2nd rounder to sweeten the deal?

#9 - McCollum
#26 - Snell/Crabbe/Green/Rice/Wolters (take your pick)

If Minny's preference is KCP over Bazz, I think there's a real possibility this trade goes down.

Oh Lord .. here comes NBN...

I like it.. I'm just not seeing Minnie doing it. I actually like the Philly thing I heard last night... I could get behind #21 for #35 and #42. Not a big fall off in talent and no guaranteed contracts.

I could see Minny doing it if:

1. They don't want McCollum - this is a real possibility because they already have Rubio. McCollum would have to play at the 2, and he'll be undersized there so that won't work well. Unless they're trading Rubio away, I think they'd prefer a legit 2.

2. They don't like Bazz - they may not be sold on Bazz's attitude & ability to play nice with who they already have on roster.

3. Because of the above, they may look at KCP, Franklin, Karasev instead. These guys are guaranteed to be available at #14.

4. We can give them a 2nd rounder to sweeten the deal.

It's a stretch, but weirder things have happened....

No way Cody is there at 14.
Zero chance we'd take Olynyk over Cody.. right?

i have this Katana its a replica of a famous japanese swordsmith, Muramasa. you're never supposed to unsheath a muramasa blade unless you plan to draw blood (or it will draw your blood, as the legend goes)
Muramasa-+authentic.jpg

Muramasas blades were banned by the shoguns because they would fight each other and the loser would never survive, theres a story of a famous shogun being split into 2 with one effortless blow from a Muramasa blade, they were banned and deemed to dangerous for use around then (1500's)
if we take Olynyk with Zeller on the board, im unsheathing the blade. and i am going to kabob all of my basketballs on it, maybe ill post a pic to Jazzfanz... actually how bout
if we take Olynyk with Zeller on the board i will videotape me destroying a ps3 with the katana (im gonna hang it from a tree and slice it in half in 1 blow)

(btw i always say well im gonna get so mad im gonna take the blade out and break stuff, and it hasent been unsheathed in many many years, i dont have much to complain about... its kinda good luck for me to say im gonna use it, never comes true,)

OK here's another one:

Jazz's #14 and #21 for Portland's #10 and #39 and #40.

Obviously we only do this if McCollum is still there at #10. Or to guarantee us Schroeder.

Who says no?
