What's new

Lionel Hollins is available

Has it occurred to you folks that before we can hire Karl and Hollins that we need to fire Corbin first? That ain't happenin in the next few weeks

Ty Corbin is the coach. Get over it. Do we really need a new thread every time a coach gets fired?

Only to validate each other's perspective.

In this case, we have Lionel Hollins, who has demonstrated pretty remarkable success coaching a team with two bigs. Some might say that the Jazz ought to model their team after a team like Memphis and Indiana. And hell, since one of those teams' coaches just became available, and hell, might even be interested in molding a very young team the same way he did with Memphis but this time avoiding some of the mistakes he made during the first few years.

I would think that of the coaches that are looking for teams right now, Hollins would be the individual most interested in coaching the Jazz.

By the way, Ty ought to bring Jason Kidd on to replace Horny.

I would like to know if he is responsible for setting up Memphis defense. Not so impressed with Memphis offense tbh.

favors, kanter and hayward will be better defensive players than m.gasol, zach and allen
Maybe yes, maybe not. Under Ty our defense sucks regardless of personnel. Hence I am curious how much credit for Memphis defense goes to Hollins. In playoffs defensive systems win, not single players playing outstanding defense.

ESPN - NBA Rumors lists Corbin as a coach that will be in the hot seat this year. It is an insider article so I cannot read it. Just FYI in case anyone is interested.

I think we're looking at this all wrong. I, for one, was thrilled with the job Corbin did this season. Had he been just any coach, the Jazz may have won 4-5 more games, played Denver and maybe taken them out in the 1st round like the W's did. Then, of course, Greg would have instructed KOC to re-sign Al, Paul, Mo and Randy since, you know, we really didn't have a chance to see what they had could do when all were completely healthy and had a chance to build up chemistry.

Instead, Corbin helped the Jazz miss the playoffs and housecleaning will FINALLY take place. And we may very well have Corbin to thank next year for moving us up a couple of spots in the darft. All Hail, Ty!

What I am worried about is that Corbin is on the hot seat and has to win now. If that is the actual mentallity of the Jazz then I can see them going Vet heavy and hosing the Core 4. Basically a repeat of last year. Gives me nightmares.

Fired? No. Unless they are just horrible this year.

Not brought back? More likely than being fired.

Brought back and extended? Possible. If they have a year where they contend for the playoffs I bet he would be renewed.

ESPN explicitly says that Corbin's contract is unlikely to get renewed at the end of the upcoming season.

That's my hope. Corbin will NOT get fired. Who would be the interim coach...Lowe? However, if the young guys overachieve, Ty might get some of the credit. My only hope is that KOC steps aside, like he was reportedly going to do, and then Lindsey is given more power. Corbin was not hired by Dennis, so there's no guarantee Lindsey will support him.
