Quick Summary

- air is tough up here
- good overall
- had fun
- in 1-on-1 tried to show ability to stay in front of the ball & score
- don't know who decided the 1-on-1 thing, was it the Jazz? was it the agent?
- what can bring to NBA team? Bring positive energy, leadership on and off the court, make others better
- Jazz? Yes - want to play here, can play right away, could establish as a leader, no pressure on dealing with vets, would be a great place
- but you're projected higher? Want to be picked 1st PG, but also need to go to a place that I can play right away. So want to cover all my bases.
- Surprise so far? Jay Hernandez may trainer had done a very good job, so no surprises.

If we draft him he's gonna be sorely disappointed.

Walt Perrin's thoughts on MCW from today's workout:

https://espn.kall700sports.com/walt-perrin-6-18-13/

- Absolutely GREAT kid
- well spoken, Syracuse communications
- We knew his skills, we saw his kills
- Was affected by altitude - needs to get in better shape
- Needs to get better shooting
- But he's LONG & athletic - gonna be a good player
- We want to be better defensive team - so need better communications
- Shooting: He's "willing" to improve, so he will "work at" it. He definitely needs to shoot better. He's got a ways to go. But I think he WILL improve it. We know that it's a work in progress. In this draft every player has a few holes.

That's pretty impressive. I'll bet agents are expecting some trades to happen and advising their players to audition for whichever team shows a lot of interest.

I'm getting REALLY excited about this draft to be honest witchu. I have a feeling we'll trade up and grab someone we don't expect.

There is NO WAY we workout 60+ players to settle for Larkin.

Anyone have a complete list of players we've worked out? Not including the free-agent camp thing.

I'm completely prepared to be shocked on draft day with who we pick at 14, 21, and 46. It should be fun. MCW seems like a great kid, but I still think he's going to be a bust in the NBA. If he falls to 14, then other teams obviously agree.

14 doesn't exactly translate to "bust". It does mean that the other teams think there are some holes in his game, of course. But at 14 you're generally still looking for someone that can be a starter--just not an all star.

Is MCW explosive enough like Westbrook? As I remember, his shot sucked too when he first entered the league.

MCW is a good athlete but Westbrook is freak with his combination of explosiveness, speed and strength. MCW is going to have a tough time to score because he isn't strong enough to absorb contact around the rim and he has no jumper. Maybe MCW can get stronger and learn how to shoot but don't count on it.

IMO MCW is like a poor man's Ricky Rubio.

Come to think of it, Deron's shooting percentage coming out of college was not great. That was the main reason I wanted the Jazz to pick Chris Paul over him. But Deron became a really good shot, so maybe there's hope for MCW. I haven't looked at any film, but if his mechanics are sound I'd be happy if the Jazz pick him at #14 (if he's even available).

I've never been high on MCW, but my latest mock, I did today, has the Jazz taking him at 14 and Dieng at 21... and I've been vocal about not liking him too. lol
At least you can't (accurately) call me a homer.

I think MCW is a good passer, but as you said he can't shoot and isn't very strong. Honestly I can see him becoming a good shooter with his shot mechanics, but I don't see him putting much more mass or strength on with his body type, but my biggest area of concern is that he's not an elite ball handler for a pg, and very turnover prone. I think he grades out better as a tweener more then a pg.
