Following potential 2013 draftees

Seriously, how often do teams target a player because he is from there? Seems like a pretty stupid premise. I don't think it happens as often as its thrown around.

Did I say it was the main reason? Perhaps the fact that Detroit needs a pure PG, the kid is POY in college and finally he could easily be still on the board. The PR/marketing could be part of the decision-making if they have two equal players rated at their draft spot. SO it is not as dumb as you think.

if you presume you dont know what the jazz are going to do in free agency, how could they not take a PG prospect with one of the 1st rounders

even if they think Ray McCallum or Pierre Jackson or Peyton Siva maybe worth taking a flier on in the 2nd round, it still is reasonable to think they will take a PG

at 14 or 21

so also presuming we arent going after any PF's or C's who are worthy of major minutes this season

MCW isnt going to fall to 14... so the other options, this year, other than schroder are all basically undersized pg's which im not sure are worthy of top picks, these days

Schroder at 14 works with almost any FA PG we can land because clearly schroder might play light, well hes got 4% bodyfat, as he adjusts not only will he be a nightmare defensing PG's but he will be able to handle many SG's easily... this is why if im the jazz im trading up for schroder

we dont have to get greedy this draft though, even if we win a ton of games next season there will be low hanging fruit available in next years draft

I might no longer be Schroeder's biggest fan on this site, but I'm mighty glad he'll definitely be there at #14.

Thank God for Dennis' homesickness. (who would have thought? LOL)

btw i dont have schroder #5th on my board, but i figured after watching the euro summit that he wasent gonna lose momentum going into the draft.

and usually the people who really know their stuff in draft threads use the "take BPA" cop-out

i like to do the team needs and stuff like that, and try and figure out what seems plausible

if we can get schroder at 14, hes a steal. its just that simple, its not even like a wow schroder is gonna be the greatest thing since sliced bread

but, what are the other options?

theyre not better than a healthy mo williams, who owes us a bit of a discount for last season too.

so yeah if were gonna presume Schroder at 14, then what do we do with #21???

Center? Sf/Pf? Wing? another PG?

so much roster flexibility, its hard to call these things

^^^

Well I've been calling for Schroeder at #14 and Giannis at #21.

I've been calling that for a good 2 months now, and I'm sticking by that.

is milwalkee trying to bluff us into taking schroder @14

will he be available at 21?

i dont believe bostons gonna take schroder either... or is that the real threat... ? i kinda think they are going for it full force next year... so schroders not the pick when you have Rondo and Avery Bradley

would there be teams with larkin ahead of schroder for need reasons?

Cleveland isnt going PG at 19, nor is Chicago taking one at 20

Atlanta might very well have Larkin over Schroder, as they need more of a 6th man type pg, they have a schroder best case scenario in Jeff Teague, thats 17 and 18

15(bucks) and 16(celts) are the ???'s

If Schroeder's BPA at #14, you take him, plain and simple.

- Bucks situation, Jennings likely gone, Ellis just opted out.
- Boston - they've got Bradley & if they're retooling, they can parlay Rondo for lots of young assets (ala Jazz & Dwill), so if Schroeder can fill in, why not?

Schroder i have graded way into the top 10... so yeah im not complaining if we take him 14... but i wonder what would happen if we passed

especially if Shabazz Muhammad drops and we take schroder over him, ill turn the tv off

Well in that case we need to throw the kitchen sink at Dallas' #13 and get both Bazz and Schroeder. Giannis at #21 and we've got a slam dunk de funk.

ya know, i really know my football players pretty damn well, theres i think like 1500 nfl players and like 500 or so nba guys though so its easier for me to remember the players, plus the nfl draftpool is way bigger, anyway

Adrian Peterson, most scouts said was the best RB prospect... ever.

not like random people, respected scouts, he was also widely regarded as the best RB in the history of texas hs football history, which doesnt mean much to some, but when you consider what that means to some people... anyway he earned that title he averaged i think 10.3yards per carry one season in football, and 05 or 06 season in which vince young destroyed college football, their only loss was to oklahoma, peterson went ballistic and was clearly the best player on the field. Also he was robbed of the hiesman his freshman year but Lienart won as a system QB, because freshman dont win the heisman...

anyway he predicted hed win the mvp rookie season... and finished 4th in the voting, i think. injury concerns and his father was in jail for most of his life, somehow someway people became weary of taking him #1 overall, though they said he was the best rb prospect ever...

im a vikings fan, have been since im little, my family is giants fans and i like to argue... so, i had calvin johnson 1st on my board, peterson #2, i wanted patrick willis for the vikings@7

but somehow by some miracle Peterson dropped to the vikings over i guess injury and character concerns, i was so amped. i knew it would take the vikings a split second on that draft pick because even though chester taylor ran for 1,300 yards the season prior, you just dont pass that guy with pick #7

anyway he broke the single game record of yards (293) vs the ladanian tomlinson chargers, whom the vikings held to like 10 yards as a rookie and now i think will break that next season, and win another mvp.

peterson could have had 350 that game if you watch the tape, u almost feel bad for the defense, they were beaten and he didnt take a snap for half of the 4th quarter during ball control offense

anyway if shabazz muhammad falls to us we cannot take schroder, i still have muhammad in my top 3, i dont believe these stories about him... im going to give it a few years to pass judgement

Edit this is a basically why im an Oklahoma fan... i also had $$$ on Sam Bradford for Hiesman pre-season and they scored 55 points a game, n he won in a landslide

btw while ive derailed to football, i totally advocated the vikings tanking 2 season ago to draft Matt Khalil.

id never advocate that strategy with this current jazz roster at all.

i dont see why now isnt the time to strike, we can fill in the blanks in free agency...

the 2014 pick... if we trade it up now, to get shabazz its absurd value.

Edit; i dont think theres a team dumb enough in the west to trade the shabazz pick to the jazz... 17 and 19 we target schroder with, use 14 for shabazz.. Giannis@21

we can use 46 to move up a spot or 2 maybe

dear bpa people, i have a scenario i wanna ask u specifically about, ive done it in video games its quite funny... its how id get the jazz to get a pick for wiggins

id take trey burke as a backup and a ton of other rookies, then trade burke after his 1st season into the 2014 draft, with the jazz pick, to get hopefully into the top 10 (Noah Vonleh)

heres the scheme though

draft a player not on need but based on probability of asset appreciation

so like schroder for instance they kept on limited minutes in germany because he could only devalue himself with lots of tape... so theres risk involved

heres specifically the scenario for the jazz

trade up for Trey Burke with full intentions of 35mpg and going after the RoY

then we trade him up for a pick in 2014... and sign John Wall...

Hayward to DET for #9 #37, 2015 1st

#9 Burke
#14Schroder
#21Giannis
#37Jaiteh
#46Southerland

this also frees up space next summer, i know you guys dont want to hear that

Edit: pretty sure burks starts somewhere if it played out like this

Burke/Schroder/Tinsley/Burks
Burks/Foye/Schroder/Burke
Southerland/Marvin/Giannis
Favors/Kanter/Giannis/Southerland
Al/Kanter/Jaiteh

tbh, I don't think Schröder will be BPA in case Giannis is still there. Having seen only Giannis "highlight" clips and reviews on him, there is good chance I err on that one, but I think his ceiling is higher than Schröder, who I can assess pretty good imo, having seen one of his top3 individual performances live last season, a lot of other games and his team's video recaps, where you also can get an impression how he works when someone else is making a play. I estimate that Giannis if he utilizes his full potential will be worth his weight in gold playing on allstar level one day.
