Official Jazz workouts thread

The jazz have worked out 72 players so far.

I read yesterday that Milawukee (15th pick) has worked out just 6 players. (not verified)

I'm beginning to believe that the Jazz are going to end up with 5-6 picks in this draft because so many of the teams are willing to sell or trade their picks (the cost to the Jazz will be relativley low). Then, play all of the picks major minutes next year in a dual purpose tank and inflate job. Young players lose games, but they also accumulate points, rebounds and assits to make them look better (see Grevious Vasquez, Kyle Lowery, Jeremy Lin, etal)

Then use the players with one year of experience and gorged stats to trade into or up in the '14 draft or for other future assetts.

Cheap and easy way to create value and turn it into more assetts.

Perhaps not initially. I doubt the Jazz are just going to pay each team $3M up front and then throw in other assets to acquire picks. However, the Jazz WILL be in a position to assume contracts at the deadline. And the price to do so would be 2014 picks or young prospects the teams already have. In that case, these evaluations could be very important. Teams are going to be hesitant to deal 2014 picks, but could be willing to give Utah a vet plus the player they drafted this year.

We, by a big margin, have worked out the most players. I think it's kind of a test for next season. As long as they find some diamonds then this will be great.

Is it? or is this Lindsey just trying to prove he's willing to do the work to make the right choices?

No, when I say it will be cheap to buy a pick, I was not refering to paying cash for a pick. I was thinking about #12 for taking Marion type deals I suspect a few of those type deals to be available including Perkins from OKC if they wanted.

I had not considered the trade deadline scenario. Nice work. It makes sense and is certainly an option. It would cost the jazz even less (2 months of salary) but they would not have the ability to choose the player they want coming back. Still being able to know what the other team is offering gives the Jazz an advantage.

Hadn't thought about OKC in that type of deal but it would be nice to get them back for the unloading of Harpring's contract and giving up Maynor for that German player that will never play in the NBA. Although with Perkins experience with Jazz fans last year not sure how happy he would be coming here, haha.

Kind of like KOC always having his eye on Favors even after he was drafted. I think O'Connor knew, even back then, that Deron would eventually be traded and Brooklyn would be one of the teams at the top of the list.

The Jazz could move Perkins again rather easily I suspect. He will have the most value to a playoff contender come February. And OKC has something like 10 -12 players under contract (if they pick up all the options on their young players) and they have the 12, 29 & 32 picks and still need to re-sign Martin or find another starting sg.

Wasn't Perkins the one who didn't score a point all playoffs? Or something close to that? Don't know how much value that is to playoff contender's, I wouldn't think much.

^How do you feel about the University of Kentucky?

Pretty bitter about how they had the utes number in the 90's, and even though the utes dominAted the cats in the championship game, the cats ruined that for me. So I don't like them neither. The utes beat some damn good players that year to get to the final game.

Yes they did. That was a great game. UK came from behind, double digits, in each of the NCAA games in '98. A yeaf we were not supposed to win it.. so it was special. Sorry it had to be the Utes.. but kudos for making the championship.

That was a damn good utes team, they just ran out of steam with about 7 minutes to play, I think the utes had a 12 or 14 point lead.
