Ford 6.0

Sacramento trades #7 and Jimmer. Jazz trade #21 and second round pick.

Sacramento gets to dump Jimmer and get their late first round pick, the Jazz get #7 for taking Jimmer off their hands and dealing with irrational zoobs. This might be the only trade I make that includes Jimmer.

Trey Burke still looks like a sharper floor leader than McCollum and he shoots well too. The question with him is on the defensive end.

I think Alec Burks + 21 might get to #7.

14 + 21 would get to 8 or 9.

AB > 14

Picking at 7 and 14 would allow us to get Burke/McCollum + Bebe/Giannis.

I think that would be a good move, and we'd be set up to take BPA next year.

I'd do #14 + #21 for #7.

I'd do #21 + Burks for #7

I probably wouldn't do #14 + Burks for #7.

I definitely wouldn't do #14 + #21 + Burks for #7.

If I'm the Jazz, I think I lay that offer on the table: Burks + 21 for #7

It's not that Burks isn't good, it's that Hayward is our starting SG and Burks isn't really a PG.

Getting Burke or McCollum back for Burks is a fair deal and improves the team overall.

If the Kings play hardball, the Jazz can just stay at 14 and take Schroeder.

Intriguing. I'd consider that scenario. But Sacramento is liking looking for a SF in a trade, or a true PG.

Sacramento is also interested in Monta Ellis if Tyreke leaves through FA.

Burks has a lot in common with Monta, is bigger, plays defense, rebounds and is cheaper.

Also, Sacramento likes a couple guys who'd be there at 21, including Hardaway Jr. and Snell.

So they'd come out of the draft with Burks and Snell for a #7 pick. That's not a bad play.

Sometimes you have to give up real value to get real value back, and the draft is a good opportunity to make an exchange.

If the Jazz aren't psyched with the players at 21 and aren't sure Burks fits, they may make a move like this to get value now.

I could see it, and I'm an AB fan.

If it were me, I might just stay at 14 and 21, take Bebe/Giannis and Goodwin and go get a PG through another trade or free agency.

Anyone willing to give up Burks for anything but a top 5 pick in this draft is nuts.

I'd give up Nick Young, 14, 21, and the 46 for Oladipo. This team desperately needs that lock down defense, and he can defend the 1, 2 & 3.

Wouldn't trade him and both the firsts for anyone else.

The podcast is here: https://weareutahjazz.com/lockedonjazz/ Start at about 46:30.

A-Train posted it yesterday as Nick Young + 14 or Nick Young +21, then the reading challenged created something out of nothing.

I listened to the podcast yesterday. It wasn't clear whether the Jazz would move both picks and Burks to move up. It was just Chad Ford saying that "throwing Burks into the mix might get into the top 5."

The deal with Sacramento for #7 is a different draft possibility posed by Ford in his latest mock.

He was responding to Locke's scenarios that were specifically 14 + or 21 + though.

Nick young is not under contract for the utah jazz.

(burks is a much better rebounder, a better passer, better ball handler, better defender, better at slashing, better motor...... Nick young is the better shooter)
