Draft Day grade - A+

I mean, I don't think Burke is a bad pick. But for a bad draft, and hearing from multiple people that the PG's in the draft are weak, I just don't see him as a savior or center piece that a lot of people are hyping him to be. I hope I'm wrong. Then again, I may just be forgetting about MoWilliams/Tinsley/Watson.

Am I the only one who's not head over heels for Burke?

Great handle, low TO's high Assists, great shooter, spot-up and off the bounce. He's the perfect fit for our team, as well as BPA at #9.

Best of all, he'll bring leadership to the team that's been starving for one for years...

I liked McCollum a little more, but they had their choice and wanted Burke so it's good enough for me. The Gobert move is actually even more encouraging in a way - it shows Lindsay has communicated that to win, you can't be a cheapass. We need the ownership on board.

Edit: it should also mean I don't have to watch Mo chuck like crazy next year. THANK GOD.

Greg Miller has never been cheap. I really don't understand the hate towards Greg when it comes to spending. He has shown an open wallet more than his father and more than most owners in the NBA (especially those of small markets).

For me, he just has one of those faces you want to punch. I can't really explain it. Glad he provided the cash we needed tonight.

Burke's been my guy for a while, back when he was projected in our range. Then I realized there was no way he'd be there and, just like Lillard, would jump up. Then he jumped after the tournament. Good day!

Is Burke going to be a great PG? Probably not. But I do think that he will be good, and he has some leadership skills that we need. Fact is, we got the best PG in an average to below-average draft while giving up none of our current players. We addressed our biggest need while talking the BPA. I don't think Burke is a savior or center piece, but I think he will be a very integral part of our starting rotation for years to come. The best part is that one of Burke's biggest weaknesses (his defense) won't be as big of a deal because of Favors, Kanter and Gobert patrolling the paint. Plus, Burke running the fast break with the rest of our team is going to be exciting as hell.

Repped.

I didn't realize we snagged Gobert until just now.

WOW.

Lindsey is changing this franchise. Wow.

Yeah, A+ for sure. We underpaid for both Burke and Gobert.

And we STILL have Alec Burks and Enes Kanter.
However, I don't think the entire credit should go to Lindsey. I'm sure it was equal parts Kevin and Dennis with a cupful of Sloan and maybe even a dash of Corbin. Oh yeah, and a sprinkle of Miller's money.

Not entirely true. The decisions that led to the Jazz being in luxury tax territory were made by Larry H.: specifically, to keep AK, match the offer for Millsap and re-up Okur. Jazz have been dumping salary since (offloading Brewer, dumping Maynor to get rid of Harpring's salary, etc.). I will give credit for picking up Jefferson instead of just saving the money. But the Jazz HAD to do that in a last-ditch effort to keep Deron happy. Now I'm not saying I disagree with the fiscal responsibility the Jazz have taken recently. It takes a few years to unwind contracts. AS painful as it was to see Millsap and Jefferson still on the team after the deadline - and assuming they're now gone - it was ABSOLUTELY the right decision to not take on big contracts in return. And it's ABSOLUTELY the right decision to head into this season with $25M or so in cap space.
