I have to disappoint you. They are not better quality. You just pay for the brand and design. Okay just the brand. I know this first hand from a guy who's into that business as a contractor for these kinda companies.
But I can understand you like the design. I had such jeans too when I was a little younger.

I don't really wear diesel that much anymore, but they are considerably better than brands like Buffalo, Guess, etc in terms of cuts, denim quality, and dies/washes. These brands charge like $120 per-- probably the biggest ripoffs in the denim business


Now, I agree: $250 for Diesels is a lot, and I personally wouldn't spend that much because I'm not a huge fan of the brand anymore. But, in all honesty, I can only think of Levi's as a popular jean brand that is good quality, fits fashionably, AND is cheaper-- of course, the sophistication of washes you're getting with Levi's isn't comparable.
 
Personally, I predominately wear either A.P.C, or Acne jeans. Both fit better and last longer than brands like Nudie, in terms of dry denim or washed denim.


I don't spend a lot of money on sneakers, but I do on leather boots and shoes. I limit myself to very few pairs-- but the few that I have are quite pricey

Yeah I agree with a lot of things. cuts and washes are the design trademarks, which make then unique, and they are good at it. But its not the denim. A friend of mine who was working for a company operating from Syria and Lebanon back when I had more contact to him told me once: They get the denim with the cuts from India and Bangladesh. They are worth less than $20 at that point. Then they take care of the washes(Back then it was done via sandblasting, nowadays it's via laser I think due to health circumstances) and the wash added less than $10 in value and cost. Then they sew on the trademark icons and they sell the pieces $100 upwards. Replay is one brand if I remember correctly. Don't know though if it's still popular in Germany or the US. But it's the same denim. All you pay for is the commercial costs, and brands. Maybe in cases they have a more stable design in seams, but I can't confirm that from my personal experience with both $50 brands and $200 brands. And I don't think the technique of how you apply seams is rocket science. Seems easy to copy.
You just have to ask yourself. Do I enjoy the commercials that much and wanna represent myself with a brand thats pricy. Just a thing of payroll and priorities.
I have heard and seen great results of tailors in South East Asia. When I go there I'll definately get a couple custom made suits. That would be my "luxury clothing" experience.
