Jazz going after OJ Mayo

It could be a problem if Mayo thinks he's the man when he's really the 2nd or 3rd option. Why would the Mavs not try to re-sign him and keep Marion and Carter instead. Something's fishy.

The team as a whole may be better off with the ball in Hayward's hands.

Hold the Mayo and give me an extra helping of Burks.

This. lol

Just another reason the last 2 years have been such an epic fail...... Burks might be just as good or better than mayo and on a rookie contract but because he never got minutes, we have no idea and now are thinking of overpaying a guy to play in front of a cheaper guy that just might be better anyway
So stupid

They are trying to re-sign him. They just want Howard first. I've read the Mavs can probably go up to 6 mil per year, which would probably too little to keep Mayo. I think Mayo will get at least 8 mill per year.

Its dumb as hell to be even thinking about going after any decent free agent right now. This team isn't built for that.

We first have to see what we have in our current group by letting them play. We don't want to be inking a bunch of people right now, only to end up not being able to retain who we already have. Extensions are just around the corner.

This team isn't ready for a title run right now. Its a waste of time to even try. The key pieces aren't old enough to expect that.

Trying to make the playoffs right now is a mistake. We are staring at one of the better draft clases in a while. Tanking is the right decision right now. Then if you happen to be good with what you have, then even better. Your core is further along than thought.

Pretty simple. Anything else is retarded. Its what the fans want too.

Or Burks might actually be worse than Mayo and we are passing up an opportunity to add talent to our team. I say sign him to a 3 year deal, that shouldn't really affect our future ability to sign players too much.

Per 48 minutes OJ Mayo takes less shots and averages more assist than Hayward.

Not at all saying Mayo > Hayward, but to call Mayo a ball-hogging SG who is comparable to Al Jefferson is kind of false.

Mayo is 25, only 2 years older than Hayward. He could very easily be a part of the core. I don't see much harm signing him to a deal when we have so much cap space.

Out of the C4, only two of them really have potential to be max contract: Kanter and Favors.

Burke has 4 years of rookie salary, so signing Mayo, even for a 4 year deal (which I'm lobbying for 3) won't affect him.

Because all these people here base their feelings on assumptions. I bet not one person dogging Mayo even pays attention to his games.

That was my point.
If we had been playing burks for the last 2 years then we would know if he sucks and then I might think this is a good move

Mayo is an inconsistent and inefficient player. A chucker with a ton of talent that won't change his game. Not a team player.

Would be a distraction on our young team.

Definitely no!
