Following potential 2014 draftees

Damn... What is a top 5 pick worth next year? And do the Jazz have the assets/balls to get one?

Guys...

The '13 draft more than ever was very unpredictable. Teams seem to be drafting the "Guy with the best fit" rather than the "Best Player Available".

- In the lotto, Bennett went #1. I don't think you can say he was BPA if we're all honest with ourselves. Cavs GM clearly stated that he'd like to see Kyrie/Bennett pick and roll, etc, etc....

- McLemore dropping to #7?? REally?????

- Then you have Gobert slipping, Solomon Hill picked early..etc..

Do you guys see this trend continuing? Can we get a decent player even if we're picking around #10 next year, for example???

We can get a good player at #10 because there are more than 10 good players next year. Can we get Wiggins, Randle, or Parker at #10? No.

Bennett was a TERRIBLE #1 pick.

No.. next year it will be back to bpa. That doesn't mean the draft is predictable, because we don't know team's bpa's........ but it will be their perceived best player.
Yes.. 10 will be a dynamite player. Top 5, though, will be a franchise player.

Top 5 next year is worth a fortune.. a huge difference in us being a 5th best team vs. a top 3...

If we could get Parker, would Hayward/Burks and our next three first rounders be enough? (Won't need Hayward/Burks if we get Parker)

If we got the #10, say, I think we'd have to give the 10, Hayward, and two firsts ... and that probably wouldn't be enough to get top 3.

Bennett wasn't any more terrible than the rest of the top of the draft would have been. Everyone would have been a terrible number one pick including noel.

Exum is a SG. Some want to make him a PG... and if anything he's a 1/2 ..not a 2/3.....

but he's a SG according to two VERY good scouts.
Some draft sites have him listed as a combo guard. Outside of Wiggins and Parker, who of course will be long gone by the time the Jazz draft, the SF crop seems pretty thin for 2014. Getting a SG in the later stages of the lottery seems a lot more likely.

Follow up question: would you do it? Would the Jazz do it?

Yeah no way any trades about of the top 6 unless it's if or a young top 10 proven player....even then....?

Really? You don't see this as a trend?

I know people keep saying BPA, but it's not that easy to trade that guy once you've got him. As an example Burks couldn't get time as Hayward is also playing at SG, you ended up on the bench, trade value goes down, etc, etc, etc.

I think if you've got a spot open, and he's BPA - then grab him. But if you think a guy can fill your spot, get heaps of playing time (Lillard, Thompson, Kawhii), then why not grab him, give him quality playing time & build him up that way?

I knew I shouldn't have brought up Bennett - I didn't know you were lurking.

Bro - do you get like a notification for everytime the word "Bennett" pops up?

Time will tell but iam just saying many HERE seem to think Bennett sucks which is retarded. If he played for a major this would not seem as far fetched. He will beast fo Cleveland. Watch.

There was no clear cut #1, granted... but Bennett was a bigger reach than several others. Jmo.

Yes, I would do it. Adding Parker and having cap space.. without the need for anymore youth the following couple years.. knowing there won't be another killer draft until '17..... yes.

Would they? Doubt it.

You know I have watched Bennett a loooong time. You know I think he's a very good player.
I have to also think you know it's absurd he would go #1 in any draft.

That's all I'm saying. If he had gone #10 I'd be on here saying how many stupid teams there are in the NBA..
