Sign-and-Trade Deals for Millsap (should be an off-season priority) -- ideas and rumors

Use this thread to lay out some realistic sign-and-trade options for Paul Millsap. These would be teams that want him, but don't have the cap to sign him outright. The Jazz would take back a player, a pick or a trade exception.

I'll compile and edit this post as good trade ideas come up.

Best ideas:

My personal favorite would be with Milwaukee for Illyasova, if the Bucks will do it.

Millsap to Memphis for Tony Allen and Ed Davis

Millsap to Portland for Wes Matthews and change

Millsap to NY Knicks for Chris Copeland (sign-and-trade) and ???

Millsap to Toronto for DeMar DeRozan and Amir Johnson

Millsap to Orlando for Aaron Afflalo and/or Maruice Harkless

Millsap to Houston for Terrence Jones and/or Donatas Montiejunas (Houston won't take salary til Howard issue is settled)

Jazz sign-and-trade Millsap to San Antonio for ... a deal based around Tiago Splitter and a back-up PG (Neal or de Colo)

Edit: Nevermind, looks like the Spurs are re-signing Splitter for 4 yrs and $45mil.

Jazz sign-and-trade Millsap to Golden State for ... a deal based around Brandon Rush (if he's healthy) and Carl Landry (signed and traded)

Jazz sign-and-trade Millsap to Orlando for ... Aaron Afflalo

jazz sign-and-trade Millsap to Atlanta for ... a deal based around [I have no idea].

I think Indiana made a mistake re-signing David West over going after Millsap. Millsap is a younger more versatile version of West.

I'm still curious about Sap's sour attitude towards the Jazz. Yesterday on sports radio, they were talking about how reporters who deal with the team on a daily basis could tell that Sap mentally "moved on" from Utah as early as mid season. It's baffling to me.

Alll Utah did was:

-Give him his 1st shot in the NBA
-Give him playing time when he earned it as a rookie
-Turned him into an exclusive starter as soon as Boozer left
-Matched a pretty nice offer sheet from Portland
-Kept him as the starter even though it was clear that Favors needed to be in his place in order to grow

Don't get me wrong, it's time for the Jazz and Sap to part ways for a multitude of reasons. However, I've got a little resentment towards the guy. He seems to have some sort of attitude towards the Jazz orginization when in fact, he should be spewing grattitude.

I think they panicked waiting for July 10th. But I generally agree (and will add that Millsap will likely be cheaper [per year]).

How about Memphis for Tony Allen and Ed Davis....although Millsap would have to come off the bench behind Randolph.

Meh, herd mentality at work.

I think all the sign and trades listed before this one are bad for us, and memphis laughs in our face for this one.

The Jazz front office has an opportunity with both Al and Sap to use one or both and get something in return other than a second round draft pick. I'm glad I'm not Lindsey or KOC at this point.
