Rank the 5

Most of you have Favors over Kanter. Why? He hasn't improved in three years!

I wouldn't say he hasn't improved at all, just not in any obvious way. But he is also a year older, got to play college basketball, and has played >2.5 times Kanter's minutes in the NBA.

There's definitely been improvement. Maybe not as much as we had hoped to see by now, but it's been there. I really want to see him get in a groove with regular minutes and a PG who can get him the ball in the right spots. I mostly have him at #1 on my list because if all 5 of the guys being discussed here hit their potentials I think Favors will easily be the best player of the 5.

1a.) Favors
1b.) Kanter
3.) Hayward
4.) Burke
5.) Burks

Though, I love Burks and think he's vastly underrated by this board. If I had to guess, I'd say Favors and Kanter will always be the top 2 guys, but I can see Burke or Burks potentially passing Hayward for that third spot.

Overall, I'm just excited we have multidimensional players at every position that can grow together for years and years. We're going to have one hell of a balanced attack.

I'm still amped we got Burke without giving up burks. Killer.

1-Favors
2-kanter
3-Hayward
4-Burke
5-burks

Burke and burks could shoot up this list real quick.

While I agree with some of this (that better players around him will probably have a disproportionately positive effect on his play and he has the best physical tools [/"upside"] on the team), there's been a lot more excuse-making than substance to his improvement and I find that disconcerting.

Like I've said in another thread, this is one reason I love the Gobert pick (how different are there upsides anyway?), because if Favors doesn't make his first leap this year (after everything breaking for him, after year four, after finally getting a real chance, after finally getting a guy that might be able to get him the ball in the right places, and after working under MaSloan), he probably won't make that jump. And if he just stays who he is now but gets numbers because he plays more minutes, he's probably going to get an insane offer and that is nothing but bad news for the Jazz (again, if the Jazz are essentially paying all-star/superstar money to a defensive specialist).

Long story short, this year is make or break for Favors, at least as far as this franchise cornerstone talk is concerned.

UGLI's rankings

1) Favors
1a) Kanter
3) Hayward
4) Burke
5) Burks

^^^ this is also how I rank them...

Except replace Favors with Burks, replace Kanter with Hayward, then switch Favors and Kanter and move Burke up one!!!

Good post.

I have faith Favors will prove to be worth the big bucks.

I would have to put

Favors
Kanter
Hayward
Burke
Burks

I think that if someone was traded it would be burks, unfortunately.

Kanter will be the best of them all. you can count on it.

Probably this if you are asking the jazz management to rank the value of each player.

If you were to ask to rank in order of who i believe the best players are then i would say Favors and Kanter in a tie for the best, burks and hayward in a tie for second, burke 3rd
