What's new

July 7th, Summer League Game 1: Utah vs. Miami

Let's not dwell on past disappointments. Not today.

Trey Burke, the National Player of the Year, and owner of a freakishly long wingspan, is going to be the Jazz pg at summer league in less than 48 hours.

Anybody heard if Gobert will be able to play??? Man, he is tall, I bet he is going to be good at something.

Let the new era of the mighty Jazz nation begin.

Gobert is on the league roster, I don't see a reason he shouldn't play.
Damn I wish I had League pass. I'm going to rely on JF to back me up.

I am excited to see these young guns and what they can do in summer league. Burke with a good showing here should only do wonders for his confidence come season time.

The Sltrib has sent beat writer Oram to Orlando. He should be getting some info to send out, if he is not too jaded after yesterday.

You can buy the summer league pass for like 5$ and watch all the games online.

Jazz G/F Gordon Hayward will be in Orlando for a few days this week to be around team but won’t play. Preparing for Team USA minicamp.

good, time to put the controller down and pick up the team.

Ty Corbin did an interview this afternoon about summer league. Here are some twitter snippets thanks to Jody Genessy @DJJazzyJody and Bill Oram @tribjazz:

Funny note from summer league. French center Rudy Gobert had to be reminded by the Jazz that he can't goal tend off the rim in the NBA.

Alec Burks and Jeremy Evans probably won't play in every game, Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said in a phone interview with Utah beat writers.

Ty on TB3: "He's going to play as much as he can stand. This is really about developing our young guys." Summer league imitates NBA season?

Bill Oram @tribjazz: just had quick chat with Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin. Said Trey Burke will play big minutes.

This is good news. Hopefully, he is stepping up as a leader, and elder;-) statesmen of this young team.

NBA.COM is saying Gobert is signed and expected to play in the SL.

Great...

@utahjazz: Jazz Summer League Injury Update:
Tony Gaffney (right adductor muscle tendinitis) & Jerel McNeal (right knee) are both day-to-day.

Ouch, terrible timing for those two trying to make an NBA roster and get injured. Feel bad for them.

Tyrone said that he was going to let the guys trying to make the roster play plenty of minutes but this won't help them.

Confirmed by Jody Genesy that Gobert has been signed. that is earlier than KOC had suggested earlier this week. Bob Hyde had to get Gobert cleared through his old team and through FIBA which was expected to take more time so that Gobert would only get to play in a few summer league games. Gobert might even get a practice in with the team before tomorrows debut. This is great news.

Jazz FO people have got to be gassed. They have been working hard for the draft, then to make a decision to not bring back several players and trade away all the cap flexibility all in a two week period..... a lot of work, a lot of stress, new boss, new players heading into the unknown.....
