What's new

July 9th, Summer League Game 2: Jazz vs Rockets 1:00 PM MT

5-15. But yes I totally agree he looks like he knows what he is doing.

In the 4th quarter burks was 2 for 2 from the field and 4 for 4 from the line.

Just looking at the play by play on nba.com

Looks like overall (just from play by play) burks and burke both struggled and gobert played pretty good again.

I will have to watch the game tonight and see if my eyeballs confirm what the play by play/box score say

burks did have a really good 4th quarter. because he mostly played off the ball. took his shots and attacked off of other's facilitating, and running off screens. that needs to be his role.

some really questionable decision-making.....

gobert has been the real bright spot today.

I did notice quite a few to's (a few by way of offensive fouls) in the play by play.

Were the offensive fouls questionable or legit? I will find out tonight

I agree that is how he should be used

Offensive fouls are just always going to be a part of Burks' game. They're a natural by-product of the way he plays

no his offensive fouls were usually wild, uncontrolled, and ill-advised.

Thanks for spendin time in thread for updates scoots..... repped

Maybe the point of Burks in summer league is to compare his and the teams' performance when he is a point guard and when he is not. That way we know whether or not to spend money on a good backup or a veteran.

Honestly I think Burke is trying to hard to play "Jazz" ball... the offense is not second nature yet, the other players don't have it all down yet, so its just awkward. I think he would benefit by just playing his game a bit more, being himself, and then letting the offense come to him. There sure were some glimpses of what is to come, but so far in the summer league I don't think we have seen what he is going to be like playing for us. Personally I think he's going to have a nice long career here.

I decided before Summer League that I wasn't going to get too high or low on anybody, regardless of if they played poorly or great. It's Summer League folks.

Also, we really need to start calling them Alec and Trey.

So atleast the Jazz got 1 pt for the 4th quarter right?

Gobert only 7 rebounds despite 76 misses in the game (teams shot combined 38%...ouch). B&B Chucking Factory each had 5 for 15 for Utah's backcourt.

Buford, Evans and Gobert had positive numbers while on the floor. Junior Stockton was next at -1 and scored 7 points in 8 minutes of PT.
