Twitter ideas are good. Have to think about that more.

I think during the summer the news thing makes more sense but once we start getting game recaps in October and beyond, might be a little ... obnoxious. Need to play with it more.
 
i just made a little widget really quickly. since i can't post html on here i just took a screenshot to give a basic idea.....

This is already my first stop for Jazz news. I'm all for a news feed, but I think a dedicated subform would be nice for news only.

instead of a new thread for every article, why don't you just add a twitter widget that shows tweets by dedicated jazz writers? bill oram, jody gennesy, popular jazz blogs, etc.

I like this idea. I don't follow any of the twitter feeds, but I would be interested if it was in one central location.

How has it gone too far? I believe the "bullying tactics" is now under control. Posters now know to report such behavior to the mods/admin.


The like thing is a "good to have", but it does nothing to curb bad posts.
 
I'm sorry, but I'm not a big fan of this Jazz News Feed thing at all.... it's really messing up the forum and it looks really cluttered today.. the titles are really long... really hard to read... a real dogs' breakfast...

Most news are reported by posters here anyway... I don't really see the point TBH

Well intentioned for sure, but it's just not my cup of tea...
 
Yeah. For reasons of multiple posts on a single topic I think I'll make it its own sub forum. Then incorporate twitter somehow as well.

Also don't forget that one of the most fun thing we do on JazzFanz is to see who can bring the latest news to the forum the quickest & get additional Rep that way. So by doing this you kinda took away the fun and excitement that comes with that.

Also it's always fun to see how people name the threads, not just a generic run-of-the-mill names you grab off the articles.

Just my 2 cents.
