How long are you going to tollerate losing?

My perception is that what GST did and Utah is doign is different. Therefore it is reality. The perception is they are not becasue well they are not.

/Thread

Basically so far in this thread it has been this:

Same as GST:
Fishonjazz
Green
Hotttnikkk

Different than GST
PKM
Stoked
Zulu
Gregbroncs
Whiskypriest (repped me in agreement)
Jeditiger

By the way I don't think whatthe jazz are doing is the same as gs. GS had to lose a certain number of games to keep thier pick and they sat thier better players for worse one in order to make that happen.

The jazz on the other hand want a good pick in the 14 draft so they chose not to sign players that could help them win and instead are going with a not as good as they could have roster.

Both teams try for good picks just in different ways

Utah shed bad contracts.
Utah made a play to get valuable assets (draft picks).
Utah made room to let the future play, play together, and play a lot.

A by-product of all of that will likely be losing. Losing was not the goal.

What green said is that the jazz put themselves in a position to lose more next year by doing the things that you just mentioned..... I think that is fairly accurate.
Now it might not be the #1 priority (I think that would be developing and seeing what we have in the core 4) but I think it is a priority nonetheless

But they jazz will still play each game to win. G S didn't.

True.
I guess the main difference is that golden states whole team was tanking and the jazz gm is just semi tanking while the rest of the team tries to win

This is what I've been trying to say - but it seems other posters are trying to paint me into another corner just so that I look bad.

It's a shame.

You know who's going to get Jabari or Wiggins? The Lakers are. Not the Jazz.

Everyone thinks that the Jazz are going to fall to pieces this year, but I truly doubt it. Let's look at some things:

Supposedly Favors and Kanter are better than Millsap and Jefferson. Well Al and Millsap averaged between 16 and 18 points per game, so that is at least what Favors and Kanter will do. Now can their replacements average what Kanter and Favors did last year? 7 and 9 points per game? If they play like they care about playing they can at least do that much, especially because they are going to be on contract years playing for a team who rewards effort and has a winning culture.

We also lost Foye. Rush seems just as good offensively and better defensively. We lost Mo. He wasn't there for most of the season last year and even when he played he did more harm than good. We lost DMC. I'm sure Jefferson can produce 6 points per game. If not him than Williams or Jeremy can. Toughness? Burke has it.

My point is that the Jazz could easily be as good this year as last year, and I will be rooting for them to win every game.

That's sweet and all...but the jazz are going to be real bad.

I think the difference is that Golden States entire goal was to tank for the pick.
.
The Jazz on the other hand have a main goal of developing the youth.
Keeping financial flexibility to re-sign the youth who may take a lot of money.
Acquiring assets to make their team better in the future.
And finding out what they have so they know how to proceed into the future.
^^^all of those things are more important to the Jazz than a draft pick.
.
A better draft pick is a cause of these other factors not priority #1. That to me is the difference.
.
When GS tanked their priority #1 was making sure they get their pick.

Haha. Give me a ****ing break.

Mr never give in, never conceed anything, never see the other side/anyone elses opinion, stick to his guns, stubborn guy

Coming from the guy who coined the phrase "professional tank"

You don't see the difference???????????????????????

green has put us in the category of the slobbering-patrick-lose-with-with-no-plan ....category.

I said the jazz #1 priority is to develop the youth and see what they have in the core 4.
But to think that getting a better pick in 14, which just happens to be one of teh best darfts eva, isn't ONE OF thier priorities is nieve. (I don't know how to spell that word)
The jazz have been planning to be bad in 14 for a while now imo.
