What's new

How long are you going to tollerate losing?

I had to spend quite some time explaining the strategy to my father and brother: cue the joke about living in my parent's basement. No, separate long distance phone calls. My brother used to be on Jazzfanz, but never told me what his board name was. I know he's not active anymore and probably doesn't even lurk. My father has always been a huge basketball fan, dating back to the Utah Stars. They were both very surprised to hear my views. But I think I convinced them that not signing any of our FA's and trading for washed up vets in Biedrins and Jefferson was actually a GOOD plan.

The guy who replaced me as Scout Master all he does is talk ball, but I never heard who he supported, so I asked last week and he proudly said the Jazz then I asked about the GS trade and he flipped... I tried to explain to him about the 2014 draft and he just said u can never trust draft picks... But then went off on how excited he is for Burke!?!?!

Been having conversations with die hard jazz fans (not on this board) who don't understand the GS trade!!! Wore my Jazz Tie yesterday and some dude at the store told me love your tie, to bad the Jazz are gonna suck... I exclaimed I know it's gonna be awesome!!

Nothing wrong with casual fans, but it's painful trying to explain to them what is really happening.

It's baffling to me that there are people who watch every single game, and maybe even have season tickets, but don't understand, in depth, how the NBA works.

I even explained it to my 8-yr old daughter; and I think she gets it. Then she asked me how the Lakers were going to do ! I told her if she EVER became a Laker fan she'd have to start paying rent and buy her own food and clothes. Not really, but she loves to yank my chain because she knows how much I HATE LA.

True Story. My daughter wanted to go 'home' to go to college. She wanted to go to Louisville (University, that is) because it was in the same town as all her family back there.
I told her NO WAY was I giving her the money to give to Louisville. She laughed and nervously asked if I was serious.... I was. She attends Kentucky and drives an hour when she wants to see family. **** UL.

PKM laying down the law!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've cornered the market on exclamation points. Everyone has to have a specialty!!!!!!!!!!
See, there I go again!!!

I avoid casual Jazz fans like the plague. When I DO end up talking to one of my friends about the Jazz, I'm never the one who starts the conversation.

Things some of my friends have said about the Jazz/NBA:

- Predicting we would see the Knicks and Clippers in the 2013 Finals.
- Predicting the Jazz will not only make the playoffs next season, but they'll be the 6th seed.
- Claiming that Foye was the best player on the Jazz this past season.
- Claiming that Jefferson and Biendrins are valuable pieces to the team and will put us in playoff contention.

And these are just a few pieces of idiocy I have to put up with.

Paging Professor Zulu!!!

Damn, I guess he beat me to those!

Maybe - if no one objects - I can have the dash? I mean - if it's not too much trouble - I can just interject another thought into sentences whenever I want. Not as useful as the comma - but can be a substitute at times - when you want to set something apart.

My co-worker had convinced himself that the Jazz were still going to make the playoffs, while being baffled about the moves and direction of the team. I laughed at him and said the Jazz are probably going to suck *** this year but will be very fun to watch. I then had to tell him why it didn't matter to me that they would struggle.

playing ball last night I had a guy arguing with me that Mo was the best player on our team last year and that we should still be trying to bring him back. I and another guy there were laughing about it.

Flies in the face of 30 years of the Jazz trying to field competitive teams. I can just imagine the confusion of the "casual fan" trying to see how adding Jefferson and Biedrins and still having but one true PG on the roster is going to make the team contend for a playoff spot.

I've had conversations with schizophrenic people that made more sense than conversations I've had with casual Jazz fans.

Seriously.
