Deron Williams Creates Utah Jazz 2.0 in Brooklyn

Wait...wasn't Deron the guy who said he purposely ignored AK on offense? Found the quote:

"Referring to teammates Carlos Boozer and Mehmet Okur, Williams said, “You see Booz after practice shooting for 25 or 30 minutes. You see Memo shooting for 20 minutes. You see, you know, all the rookies. The young guys. You saw [Rafael Araujo] in there working. [Then] you see Andrei being the first one out the door.”

As the Jazz’s quarterback, Williams admitted he has looked for other targets with his passes because of Kirilenko’s approach to the game last season.
“If he’s coming off a screen on one side and Matt [Harpring] is coming off a screen on one side, who do you think you’re going to pass to?” Williams said.
“You think you’re going to pass to the guy you see working every day in the gym or are you going to pass to the guy who never works on his shot but yet wants to shoot ‘em every time?”
Asked if Kirilenko’s work ethic was a problem, Williams said, “I would say so.”"
That's the way I remember it...if AK is on the Nets, I doubt it was because Deron was pushing to make it happen.

Question is, if AK or Garnett or Kidd complain about Deron's diva attitude, will Prokhorov have the courage to pull the trigger? Or rather, have his "associates" do it for him. If so, looking for Deron could rival the search for Jimmy Hoffa.

looks like the Jazz have become the farm team for Chicago and Nets over the last few years
I remember the Nets did have Okur ... I think he was traded for a second round pick in 2015 or somthing

Actually he does. Read his bio. It's full of shady deals aided by his partner, a Russian politician. From their mining operations to the bank they owned: in bed with the government and allowed to purchase other companies for pennies on the dollar. In fact, in one of the most blatant examples of corruption, the bank he owned purchased a nickel mining company in which he was on the Board of Directors for much less than actual value. His bank was also in charge of the bid process (as well as being a prospective bidder) and disqualified a much higher bid for the company. This guy is corrupt as they come.

How is that different than any politician in America? Look at our last two presidents. They became who they became because of backdoor deals such as the ones this guy has done.

We don't want honest self made men to run our countries. We like the slimeballs a lot more, because deep down, a lot of people are all a little slimy and they make them feel better about themselves.

Shouldn't this be 3.0? Since Carlos Boozer created the Chicago Jazz when he first moved there?

Didn't say it wasn't happening in the U.S. And it's on both sides of the spectrum...Republicans as a group aren't any more virtuous than Democrats (and vice versa). Prokhorov's case is pretty blatant, but that's Russia. At least the deals in the U.S. are generally "backdoor." With Prokhorov, the fox was guarding the hen house and being paid to do so by the farmer!

You must be completely out of your mind if you believe that. The guy had nothing and using his mafia connections got multi-billion dollar Soviet natural resource for peanuts. Yet you are comparing him to US presidents, who may have had some small backdoor deals here and there at some point. The whole success of Prokhorov was this 8 billion dollar rip off. This is not even remotely close to anything last 2 US presidents have done. It's like comparing a person going a few miles over speed limit to a serial killer. Yes, both have done something illegal, but this is where the comparison ends: it's not even close.

I think AK was hoping to land with the Spurs but Minny wouldn't do a sign and trade, so the Nets were his last and only resort with all the free agent money having been spent, and since Proko is his buddy and Deron probably signed off on it (their relations were cordial when Deron was traded), he went there.

A rather naive take on the situation, given how high Kirilenko's stock is right now. He almost certainly had a bevy of options to choose from. I'm sure his charity received a sizable donation after he signed for peanuts with the Nets.

Yea I guess this makes DW haters look dumb with their claims that DW didn't like AK. AK isn't too smart for opting out. Besides he is coming off the bench too, maybe he will whine about his role.
Not really. Deron admitted he didn't look for AK on purpose because Kirilenko never worked on his shooting and was always the first out the door after practice.

Naïve? Pretty sure that AK's first option was the Spurs but Saunders refused to make it happen. In fact, if Kahn had remained as GM, AK would still be in Minny. Saunders was the real reason AK opted out in the first place and AK actually stated this in an interview.

I blame Milt Palacio* for all of this.

Ha, nice.

Look at the facial expressions of pretty much everyone in the crowd, wishing Palacio would simply disappear...

There are also many links since that time saying they like each other, are friends (as are their wives) and have vacationed in the off season in Europe together among other things.
