Following potential 2014 draftees

couple thoughts

randle watching some videos of him he can definatly play the 3 at the next level, depending on the match ups. I would love to see him and labron go head to head. I don't see a ton of back to the basket play but his face the basket ability is insane. Chris weber with more athletism is a good comparison.

Jabari would be insane not to come out. I know what is being said but like wiffspree said for him and players like him, top 20 they are going to want to be part of something special.

exum I am a little worried about. great talent but he doesn't play above the rim as much as I would like. he is a classic tweener luckily he has enough height to be a 2 but I don't think he has the mental make up to be an effective full time pg.

James young is going to be interesting because he has a killer shot. if he can learn to attack the rim also he is going to be good.

I am still liking vonleh. if he can get a killer instinct he will be special. game reminds me a lot of kg.

great first mock also pkm

Guys will come into the league when they think they're ready and when GMs are ready to draft them high.

Yes, a few could stay in school another year (obviously).

I agree with most of this assessment, except Vonleh. I don't see the KG comparison. He's just not as quick and explosive as KG. What I see is a guy who plays at his own speed, with the feel of a slightly bigger and longer version of Harrison Barnes. I think he's a combo forward, but think he can play SF regularly.

If Jabari doesn't come out, then there's a pretty decent chance he'd be playing with Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones the next year. That'd be a hell of a team.

/It won't happen, but I can dream.

Weird. But he did say he doesn't think he's ready for the NBA right now, not that he doesn't think he'll be ready in a year.

Yeah I know that. It's still strikes me as odd that while the Harrison brothers & Julius are very confident they're ready, Jabari who is probably the most ready of the bunch, simply said "NO".

He also picked Duke which isn't known as a 'one and done' school...

Obviously money also isn't an object to him, so I think there is a slight chance he stays 1 more year if he really enjoyed the experience at Duke.

Sure, there's an argument to be made that he'll stay in school. Better start praying now that he has some sense.

OK... may be if the Jazz are projected to get a decent draft pick, he would consider coming out?

As a mormon, what do you think? Would he like to come to the mecca of Mormonism? Or would he not care about it much?

People talking about High School players with absolute certainty before they have played a single college game is by far PKM's worst contribution to Jazzfanz.

This thread will become relevant when the college season starts, which isn't soon enough.

He can play SF but doesn't need to. He's 6'9 and 246lbs.. he might wreck more havok as a do-it-all PF than a SF. But, yeah.. he has the shot, handles, and enough quickness. I just think he may pose an even bigger matchup problem as a PF.

Sounds like how Lamar Odom was described coming out of Rhode Island, big small forward that has all the tools and would be better suited to create mismatches at the power forward position. Lamar is now looked at as a bust according to what selection he was made in the 99 draft.

Really hard to say. Everyone is different. If I was in his situation (and wasn't a Jazz fan) I don't think the chance to play in Mormonville would entice me to come out if I had my mind set on staying another year in school.

I think some players (like Wiggins) are different.

Even when the college basketball season is on you can't even talk about prospects.. Otto Porter is looking like a scrub.

Good point... but there's so much hype coming into this draft.

If I was a 1st round player, I might think about declaring just to be included in this "special" draft that will "go down in history"
If I were a player projected to go in in the 1st round, but outside the top-10, I'd consider staying in school. The 2015 draft likely won't be as strong. And that would mean a chance to move up quite a few places and get a bigger initial contract.
