Following potential 2014 draftees

Just watched Julius Randle vids for the first time and all I can say is Wow. He's a stud. Gotta think the number one pick status is between him and Wiggins. Parker is going to be a tier lower.

First 2 Tiers in 2014 draft
Tier One: Future Superstars
Wiggins
Randle
Tier two: Future All Stars
Parker
Smart
Young
Harrison
Exum
...

Tidbits from a recent Wiggins interview:

Q: What do you think about so many NBA teams possibly tanking for the upcoming season all to possibly be in position to draft you?

A: I think that would put a lot of pressure on the average kid.

Q: Do you think of yourself as an average kid?

A: No … but it’s a lot of pressure. That’s risking a lot for one person.

what everyone is saying about harrison also applys to randle. I think randle can play some 3 and with his outside shot the jazz could go for spurts with randle favors kanter.

I also like vonleh. would be a great player in the 6th - 7th man role.

James young has moved way up my list. the kid is skinny but has a great skill set in his shooting ability. at 6-7 he is big sg or with some extra strength can also play some 3.

i am worried about exum playing below the rim. he doesn't have a lot of lift.

Parker might be in that first tier...we'll see. But I'm almost as high on Randle as you are. If Wiggins/Parker went 1/2 and Randle was on the board, it would hard to pass him up as BPA and draft Harrison (probably best match for need). If all seven of those players declare, the Jazz could get a fantastic pick even at #7.

Parker will have a career similar to that of Tim Duncan. he will just make his teams win. he will be the unrecognized super star. he personally will bring a couple championships to his team. the reason the comparison is both are fundamentally sound and don't play the game to be the hero but to just be the best. (that falls short of what I feel but will do)

Possibly. I'd be on board with drafting Randle. Having Randle + Kanter would allow the Jazz to play inside out the majority of the time. Both can play down low and score in lots of ways and Randle has that outside game, for which I don't really find a comparison in terms of PFs. While the majority of his skillset reminds of both Kevin Love and Dirk Nowitzki, I'd probably say he's a taller, more athletic version of what people envisioned Michael Beasley to be when he entered the league. This would enable you to always attack the weaker post defender, while the other player creates space by staying out of the zone. Their shooting has to be respected and they can nullify the big guy coming over to help if you lure him on the wrong side of the basket. Randle can also take the big guys off the dribble. So either you keep Favors as the 3rd big man off the bench or you sell him for a high price after he developed more scoring skills. Basically the Jazz can't do nothing wrong unless they draft a center w/o moves on offense or Marcus Smart.

??? How so??? If he develops well - GREAT - he's 1 more asset we have in our hands.

- Use him as a backup?

- Trade him for another '14 pick?

- Play Andrew Harrison off the ball at times?

So many options... the point is to accumulate valuable assets. Remember what HOU did to grab Harden?? Basically Jeremy Lamb, Kevin Martin and some picks. Burke will be a valuable asset whichever way you look at it.

I'm just not seeing that as championship potential. PGs don't win championships.
Adding another PG doesn't seem like that leap we NEED this draft to be.
We already have a talented PG prospect. Adding another doesn't make us elite.

Also we need to draft Aaron Gordon because I am convinced that he will be the best summer league player out of all the players we have talked about. Championships are built on summer league!
