I probably look more "Chinese" than I do "Thai" (i.e., my skin's not as tan as most Thais)... about 30% of thai population are of chinese descent.

I haven't met a single South East Asian who doesn't possess that openly increased curiosity when it comes to sensations and gloating/schadenfreude (I was really stumbling when it came down to finding the right word, but had to smile when I looked up the dictionary to find the german word

I'm 30. Born in Bosnia, lived in Croatia, grew up in Calgary, Canada. Jazz fan since 94/95 season. Social Studies teacher as of last year. Non-believing and non-observant Jew. 5'11, about 175-180, and usually sporting some sort of facial hair. I believe I had a "Lemmy" in a picture I posted on the forum a year ago. I'm a trained musician(guitar mostly, though not as much the last few years as I probably should play), I love basketball and metric football. Have coached both. My initial degree was in History and English Lit. Love history and spend an inordinate amount of time doing research. Hoping to do a masters in it one day, just for my own sake. I've been dating a girl the past 3 years. Ideally will move in together by the end of the year. Budget cuts in education make me a little worried about that. Brand-new teacher get the short end of the stick during those. It'd be a lot easier to plan getting a place if I knew for sure where and how much I'll be working in September.
I've never owned an American car in my life.
I've been to at least 20 heavy metal or hard rock concerts in my life.
I used to box, but I stopped after my coach took a swing at me for calling him homophobic white-trash.
I've seen at least 75% of all Jazz games in the past decade on TV or computer, but have never attended one in person.
I dislike most vegetables.
When I was 14, I thought Bryon Russell would become our franchise player once John, Karl, and Jeff retired.
I've never owned an American car in my life.

Hahaha.. nah bro.. it's all just fun & game on this site. In real life I definitely don't get pleasure from watching someone suffer... I definitely don't point to someone on the street and shout "TAKE THAT!!!!!! SUCKERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!" They way I often do it on this forum....
May be I've been posting here for too long, but I've given up trying to take things too seriously here... So my sincere apologies if I've offended you or anyone with that happy-go-lucky attitude, it's just part of the FUN.

Chinese people definitely don't have a good image overall. Here in NZ we recently had an influx of Chinese into our country and I can't say I've been all that impressed with their behaviors here. They just don't get all the customs that we are used to here, so they can be seen as very rude. Plus they don't speak the language well, so that makes the problems worse. As an owner of a garden center here, I see all sorts. Most Kiwis are very fair and honest people. That's my style. But most chinese who comes through our shop, most of them would heckle and bargain without fail. They want everything 1/2 price. Some would ask you questions until the cows come home, and ended up not buying anything or saying "your stuff is too expensive". Well, what can you do? I try to treat them and at times "teach them" how things are done here in NZ.
In terms of Racism... It's hard... I mean, I've been here nearly 20 years, I'm practically a Kiwi, but because of the way I look - people just think we're like most Chinese who have just arrived off the plane... I mean, how do I change that??? I do try my best to change this image, as an example, I'm the only Asian guy who regularly go to our church. It's pretty daunting at times, but I've just got to do it... it's just the way things are.
Sad to hear people of your descent are being treated that way in your country. In Germany closest things are Turks here. I think 20% of the German population possess either a Turkish passport or are 2nd generation who due to their birthplace logically have German passport. But the main problem is many lack the interest to integrate into the German culture. Germans on the other hand often show displeasure towards "potential Turks" based on their looks and prejudices about them. Doesn't help either of course. I always guessed that both cultures don't mesh well and both seem to possess low willingness to accept other lifestyles/habits.
If I had to make a guess that's probably the reason for most immigration problems. Lack of cultural flexibility and different look making it easy to identify ones ethnic descent.
But you misunderstood my point about gloating I think. The way I know SEA people it's more in a harmless way. Imagine a woman in a city whose heels break off her shoes, she falls and you can see she wears no underwear under her skirt subsequently she's emberassed. Most Germans(me included) would probably notice it and take a shy glimpse while trying to stay low-key and continue to walk. Most Asians I know would stop walking, start grinning all over their face and observe how the situation develops... In fact most Asians I know are very helpful people in serious situations.
And if I try to transfer that on this board if you're excited about something you very often comment about topics in a cheerish way that goes over the top easily. Like the Jabari Parker thing, where I think you had like 20 comments within 1 hour in ecstatic anticipation of the 2014 draft.
I don't think you have ever offended anyone on this forum... But the way you post it's easy for people to pick your exaggerations they belief are mislead and throw it right back in your face! So if anyone had to apologize I think it's the rest of us...
