I Kind of Feel Sorry for Mo

He appears to be the little puppy looking in on the looking glass. After he came to the Jazz KOC blew smoke about what a mistake was made not brining him back to the Jazz after his rookie year and then he gets hurt midway through the season and appeared to be an injured chucker the rest of the year. Then the front office decides to blow things up and the best Mo is looking at in the MLE from a team and I think most teams are close to being capped out. So that probably leads him signing a contract with someone like Lucas' and he theought he was going to get 9-10 million per year for at least 4 years.

I don't feel bad for a guy who has tons of talent. A great shooter and a great court speed. Very hard to guard him.

He has thrown away all of his talent all because he has no idea what patience is. If he learned patience and how to run a pick and roll and shot selection he could be an incredible point guard. But like most players in the NBA its not the physical ability that they are lacking. Its the mental.

But the guy was an all star with the Cavs. I think if he hadn't gotten hurt, the Jazz make the playoffs and the tank is not on so perhaps we all owe him a debt of gratitude.

Hard to feel sorry for a guy who's your starting PG, pulling up for a 3pt on a fast break, with nobody under the basket except 3 defenders.

Then clanking it off the rim, no less...

He'll win a championship with Miami next year, so I'm not sorry for him.

I feel bad for Al, if anyone. Then I remember how much money he's making.

This is good for his career. He is going to make less money, but if he joins a team as a bench scorer he is going to look good and relevant again. He needed to be humbled, it has happened.

In LA he was just like "Yeah, Im not a starter only because I'm behind Chris Paul.". Now he realizes he isn't a starter because he just isn't a good PG.

Also, there are so many PG's now, the price for them is dropping.

Jennings and Teague, who are both good young PG's, only got 8 million a year. I bet before the CBA they both get at least 10 per year.

There is nothing more poetic and fulfilling to everything I've said about Al Jefferson than him going and signing a ridiculous contract with the uncontested worst franchise in the NBA.

There is a reason Al has appeared in a total of two playoffs since his entry into the league.

Mainly that he has mostly been on ****ty teams.

The fact the Jazz were close to making the playoffs last year is kind of amazing when you consider we had three of the worst PG's in the league, including 2 who were actually statistically considered the worst PGs who got over 10 mpg.

When does it stop being a coincidence, especially given his mediocre to woeful showings in many advanced statistics? He plays losing basketball and has a loser mentality and those two are not unrelated either.

If Mo needs any further signs that he isn't a starting caliber player anymore then Homeytennis making a thread about him should be the final sign he needs.

He shouldn't be the highest player on a team, for sure. I just don't think it's accurate that you can't win with Big Al. You just have to be smart enough not to pay him like he is your best player. I really thought this would happen, then the Michael Jordan stepped in.

Best case for him and for a team having him, you play him like 28 mpg and he is your 3rd best player. You pick spots in games were you feed him the ball in the post when he has mismatches, and when he doesn't, you just use him to space the floor.

With Utah he was being used too much and played along side a PF that wasn't able to cover his weaknesses.

Okay, I don't disagree with the idea that a player can do better when put in a position where their weaknesses are mitigated and their strengths are allowed to flourish. But Al has so many weaknesses that are hard to mitigate. He's probably the least versatile 'star' in the NBA.

Probably. I just feel like if he could either learn to get to the FT line, or learn to play pick n roll defense, then he would actually move into the category of a player who could lead you to winning. Those things probably wont happen though.

Still wish he would have gotten traded to the Spurs (rumored last year). That would have been the ultimate test of "Can you win with Big Al".
