I just don't understand why it matters to you so much that we think a capable Rush would benefit the team more as a starter. I mean disagree sure but you come off as invested emotionally in it. It's the off season. All we have to do is armchair.

I'm not opposed to giving Burks a shot at it. I have my opinion sure but what the he'll. This year is about testing them out right?
It's not that Burks isn't better than Rush. I think it's more that Rush can accommodate the starting lineup w/out making them much worse than with Burks and Burks makes the 2nd unit exponentially better than Rush would. Who do you want initiating offense, Lucas?
Plus he's what, like 21? At this point it's more about another year of working on his skills, strength, and b-ball iq.

I think it is more likely that Burks/Hayward just stay on the floor longer.
As they should. I'm theorizing a Rush/Hayward starting duo as I think it gives some semblance of an offense a better chance to start.
Been saying the same thing.

I would like to know what makes Mahoney think that Burks helps spread the floor. We don't know how Rush will respond to his injury but we do know that historically he has been a much better outside shooter then Burks. And I think it is safe to say he has been a much better on the floor decision maker. I have no issue with Burks getting good minutes but I hope we start Rush if he is healthy. The only way we find out what Enes and Favors are worth is if we give them some room to operate.

Agree. With two inside players in Kanter and Favors, the Jazz need a couple of wings who can stretch the floor. Hayward can hit the 3 and so can Rush. Burks hasn't shown that range. Alec is better on the 2nd unit as a guy who can get to the hoop and draw contact. He could make a living at the foul line, if he can improve his FT%.

Me four. I've been saying for a while I see Burks being the 6th man for Utah. If Rush is healthy, I think he starts. If not, I wouldn't be surprised to see Utah again have a Jefferson in the lineup with Favors, Kanter, Hayward and Burke.
I think part of the reason we saw Corbin hesitant to replace Marvin Williams or Foye in the starting lineup is that he (or Lindsey) wanted this year's eventual starters to have a lot of minutes together. Same should apply this year. Moving forward to next season, Burks would likely get pushed to the bench by whoever we draft. Need to see this season if he will accept and thrive in that role. I think it would be difficult next season to "demote" him to the bench.
With Burks fantastic ability to get the the rim that is one of the main areas I hope he improves. That could add 4-6 points to his ppg alone.

AK had a HUGE problem when the Jazz wanted him to be the leader of the second unit and start Harpring. What did Burks lack last season? Playing time. Give him 25 mins off the bench. With Lucas, Evans, Jefferson and Biedrins/Gobert, who would be the #1 scoring option? BURKS! He gets playing time AND touches. Make him a starter and he's the 4th or 5th option with the play-making opportunities being divided among Burke and Hayward.
It's certainly not 100%, but I think it very likely the Jazz add a wing if they finish in the top-8 of the lottery. And in that case, they BETTER get an upgrade over Alec. If that player isn't good enough to start and develop into the Jazz' primary shooter, Utah has failed in the draft. Only exceptions I see are if the Jazz are in position to draft Randle or if Burke fails miserably and Lindsey decides to go after Harrison or Smart as a replacement.
