Is SLC the only NBA city where the NBA team (Jazz) is more popular than any other local sport.....including college sports? This was talked about by one of the ESPN reporters on twitter.

Besides SLC here were other contender cities:

-Portland
-Miami
-Toronto
-Orlando

But Portland has the Ducks, Miami has the Hurricanes and Dolphins, Toronto has the Blue Jays and Orlando has FSU and Gator fans.

San Antonio
Oakland

Also, how can you consider FSU local to Orlando? FSU is in Tallahassee, Orlando is in Orlando.

Athletics and Raiders are probably still more popular. Probably Stanford too.

San Antonio is still going to have more football fans. Texas lives and breathes football no matter where you are.

Same thing for Florida.

So basically the bench mark is just the NBA team being the most popular?

Los Angeles
Oklahoma City
Portland
San Antonio
Charlotte
Memphis
Phoenix

Los Angeles-USC/Dodgers
Oklahoma City-OU/OSU
Portland-most likely but still a crap load of Duck fans

These other three are all football towns:

San Antonio
Charlotte
Memphis

SA is absolutely NOT a football town. you know nothing about SA if you say its a football town

Oh my bad. It is just cities that have the NBA and nothing else. Becasue that is the only way basketball can be the most popular right?

Basically this is a list of your opinion of what team is most popular where. Sometimes based on cities you don't know anything about.

Example: Memphis is not a football town, sorry.

the blue jays are not well supported... donno why you would choose the blue jays over the maple leafs

charlotte isnt a football town either... all about college hoops and nascar. no one has liked the panthers since they went to the super bowl

Local college football and the Tennessee Titans get more love than the Grizz.

But yes Memphis does love their college basketball.

vols are pretty well supported

edit: prolly more in nashville than memphis though

vols are pretty well supported

The Vols are located in Knoxville, not Memphis. That is about 6 hours from Memphis. That is about as acurate as saying that a team in Vegas counts for Salt Lake City (based on drive time and distance as well as local colleges in said towns).

If anything an arguement could be made for the Memphis Tigers college basketball team. I base this off of living in Memphis for a decade.
