Starvin' Marvin Might be Ready and Healthy by November

I thought it was funny how Locke joked about Wiggins. He is starting to make little comments about "the tank".

I teh wet bandito plays anything like he did last year then its all the better for the tank

I hope Marvin is awesome so we can deal him at the deadline for another asset.

I also think he'll be used at the 4.

If he's awesome why wouldn't we want to keep him? The only reason I can think of is maybe his contract is too high. I just think we used him wrong last year. I think he's going to get more comfortable and really it won't be too hard to improve from last year.

The trade for Marvin never should have happened. We gave up a decent 1 year contract for a bad 2 year contract. We got a pick for the trouble right? Nope, not even a second rounder. KOC blew that trade. To make it sting even more, Atlanta was +7 or so with Harris on the floor, and in the negative without him.

Here's to hoping we can at least get an asset out of him at the deadline.

Agreed it was a bad trade, but it made sense at the time so you can't really blame KOC. It was a good trade on paper and it made sense.

I mean, devin harris had a rocky relationship with corbin and that could have had a bad influence on favors/kanter/hayward/burks. It's not like we needed more cap space this year...

I still would like to see Marvin with his self-confidence as being the bigger brother to those local star players of the roster. But it feels like he'll warm the bench if he cannot surpass what he has shown last year.

I remember that Locke had a buttload of analysis that he had done for Marv's previous season, when he first got traded to Utah.

Not sure if I am remembering this properly, but his stats at the 3 were much better than his stats at the 4 in his 2012 season @ Atlanta.

It's not really saying much-- and quite frankly I think he's gonna fill a huge hole in our roster if he does play the 4-- just thought I'd include that in this thread.

Really, who cares if it was a bad trade at the time or not though? Marvin
Williams had a bad year, woopty woo, you people beat so many dead horses, man. So many.

I am worried about Marv's athleticism a bit though with that Achilles injury.

Found it:

Maybe the most important item is that Williams has always played better as a small forward rather than a power forward. In Atlanta he had to play nearly 40% of his minutes as a power forward. He was more productive on both the defensive and offensive ends as a small forward. He was overmatched defensively from the power forward position, but well above average defensively from the small forward.

Haven't looked into the stats behind this, though.
