Following potential 2014 draftees

NO. and NO.

Aren't you contradicting yourself? If he's not gonna play point in the NBA (i.e., your 2nd "NO"), and he says that he considers himself a PG, then that in itself is interesting, isn't it?

I mean, is he expected to play the SG in the NBA? Has he prepared himself well enough for that? He won't have the ball in his hand all the time, he'll have to try and get himself open, he'll have to improve that 3pt shot... etc, etc, etc.

Would he be ready for that????

- Curry played the PG pretty well, but if I remember correctly he played PG in his last year in college?

- Tyreke hasn't fared to well at the point guard position.

- Neither has Knight at the point.

Its simple, kkk... he cannot play PG in the NBA.. BUT he can be a very wing player.
No need to over analyze.

Thing is pretty simple right now:
His handles aren't tight enough to play PG.
He's having problems running over screens. Imagine Chris Paul abusing screens with triple quadruple crossover change of direction whatever moves. Won't work.
If he can develop the necessary skills in both areas he's probably with his above average playmaking skills the better fit at PG.
But same as MCW: I don't think he can ever defend a PG for 48 min.
Other than MCW: He's got different qualities allowing him to shine at SG!

Look at the available situations where he'd land:
Sixers(If they get out-lottery'd and MCW sucks big time they might take him with a 3rd pick if Randle is not available)
Suns(Might be a good fit there, as Bledsoe hasn't shown natural point guard skills too often. So starting plays from the 2 spot might be good for them)
Jazz(Yeah if Burke shows no promise, he might fit in)
Celtics(They have no position penciled in yet. They'll take BPA and make him face of the franchise after Rondo getts dealt)
Magic(They'll look more for an inside player I guess, but Exum might be possibility for both guard spots. Doubt it though)
Kings(They have to take BPA with all the DMC turmoil and uncertainties)

Exums crossover is really impressive, id be excited to see him develop in Utah

hed be the most athletic guard in the history of the jazz, right?

I think alec burks is more athletic than exum.

Most of you will have no idea who Kenny 'Sky' Walker is (top 5 all time Kentucky player) but he gave a great quote yesterday.

He lives around the UK bb program.. every practice, every game, guest spots on tv and radio.. NOT known for hyperbole.

Yesterday after a practice he said Julius Randle is the most talented player Kentucky has had since Shawn Kemp.

Aside from the jokes some of you are conjuring right now... that's some mighty high praise.

More talented than Davis?

That's a pretty big claim....

That's a pretty big claim....

Davis isn't flashy. Of course it's easy to get overlooked. His development next year will be exciting to follow.
Randle has this playstyle that makes his teammates consider to sue him for domestic violence after practice(Since this is kind of popular nowadays).

I was more like asking myself, which big time recruits/talents they had between Kemp and this year? Don't tell me Wall, DMC...I'm talking gamechanger.

Wall
Cousins
Ron Mercer
Derek Anderson
Antoine Walker
Scott Padgett :)

He's drawinh some comps to Jamal Mashburn.

Yeah that's no comparison for Randle's upside. And that was known a year ago. These guys are occasional/accidental contract year all stars.

This randle dude is growing on me...

Would a Kanter & Randle front court be good enough defensively ??? (in case we trade away Favors)

Most casual fans don't understand defense very well.. especially post defense. Defense is about making your opponent take lower % shots and hopefully holding them to a modest FG%. Not a whole lot more matters than that.
Not steals, not blks.. though those things certainly add to a decreased efficiency on the opponents offense.

To answer your question.. I'm not crazy about it. I like Kanter and Favors more on d than Kanter and Randle.... though I love that tandem on the offensive side.

I think post defense is so overrated. There's like 5 center who have efficient post moves in their repertoire. It doesn't hurt, but help defense is way more important for Center player.
Power Forwards operate way more often with the back to the basket and mix it up with various moves.

I hated skywalkers dunks..... they were all the same.
I mean every dunk he would hold the ball with his forearm and that was about it.
Could he even palm the ball?
