What's new

Eurobasket 2013

Finland - Russia went to the 2nd OT and Finland have beaten the mighty Russia 86-83. Congrats to them on another bet breaker.

Finland FTW! I love to see underdogs overachive but they're really showing that the talent is not the only answer for success.. beside Koponen maybe, cause he is talented.

I honestly don't know a single Finnish player besides Koponen. And I know lots of European Leagues, especially those teams that are competing in international tournaments.

On a sidenote: Germany at its best vs England :D Finally w/o any chance to advance! I really hope now that France wins and goes undefeated. Would make them look like even bigger jokes.

Sarcasm ;p

well Turkey is down to Sweden so far. That should lead to both coach and Turkoglu resignation from national team forever.

Did I mention that Jonas Valanciunas looks totally badass with his new "haircut". Just looking my first game with Lithuanian participation.
Wish I had the guts to pull this look off as well xD

Man my heart hurts everytime I watch Javtokas play. I had seen him just before his accident live in 2001/2002 in Saporta Cup. He was such a beast. Really strong. Needless to say the Spurs drafted him. That was a tragedy of Jay Williams proportions. But Javtokas with knees and his athleticism(Yeah he was about to prove that white guys can indeed jump) was ridiculous. Borderline AllStar potential.

Yup, that was stupid and sad thing what he did to himself. Before that bike accident he dunked on 12FT basket and was total animal. But when they need to insert titanium pin and repair your shattered to pieces femur I guess it is a miracle he still can play.

True. If you've seen him play in person 1st row behind the basket dunk the **** out of your team and see him now, it's still saddening :(
Actually he didn't do it to himself. Some ruthless driver drove his car into his motorcycle. Still he shouldn't have used that in the first place and risked severed traffic injuries.
Man that Vilnius team back then was so beast. We signed Kaukenas from that group 2 years later when he fell apart with his coach in Belgium and had a series of injuries. Starting that season his career skyrocketed for real.
Crazy **** if I remember how competitive my team was back in the days. Saporta Cup(EuroCup) quarterfinals would be out of reach nowadays for them.

LT wins a thriller in OT over Montenegro. JV with another double double 12pts/10reb/2blk but real stars were Lavrinovic twins - 33pts combined on 11-14 fg, 5-6 3pts.

From what I remember it was like that - Javtokas was speeding, he was going over 110km/hr in 80km/hr zone and passing other cars when truck decided to take left turn. Javtokas just had no time to stop and crashed into turning van. At least thats how it was reported in local media.

This is from Wiki

On May 1, 2002, while driving his Honda CBR1100XX motorcycle at a speed of around 140 kilometers per hour (87 miles per hour) towards Vilnius, he had a serious accident. Approaching a side road, Javtokas started to pass a van, but the van driver did not see the motorcycle and turned left. There was no chance for Javtokas to stop and he hit the van, losing control but not the bike, which crashed into a car in the opposite lane. Javtokas flew dozens of meters and landed in bushes off the road, crushing his thighbone, breaking his shoulder, and injuring his knee and kidneys. He returned to basketball for the 2003-04 season

Vilnius, Kaukenas, Saporta, Montenegro, Lavrinovic.

I knew Europe was fictional. Stupid make believe words.

By German traffic rules, if you switch lanes and don't pay attention it's your fault irrespective of other traffic violations. Well maybe not all the Lithuanian cars have side and rear mirrors ;)

Slovenia and Croatia was quite the game today. Watched it at work. Slovenia had a big lead in first half but blew it. Bogdonavic looked good. Brooklyn could use him I do believe.
