Last games of the first stage...

Slovenia and Croatia was quite the game today. Watched it at work. Slovenia had a big lead in first half but blew it. Bogdonavic looked good. Brooklyn could use him I do believe.

Wish I could see the game.

Bogdonavic is a good scorer but he needs to work on other parts of his game. Still he could make a good contribution to the Nets. But I'm glad he decided to stay in Turkey. I believe he will be better this year with Obradovic at Fenerbahçe.

Greece getting beaten by Finland. That's just too awesome.
Btw in 30 min Czech vs Croatia starts. Winner basically advances, loser drops out, since I don't expect Poland to beat Slovenia for another 3 way tie. I seriously can't imagine POland winning, in spite of prior results in this tourney.
Another elimination game is Lithuania vs Bosnia. That group offers some 4 way tie situations that I'm too lazy to break up right now. But also watch worthy starting the same time as the Czech game.

So Finland beats Greece leaving Italians as only undefeated country so far? Crazy as always.
Interesting situation in B group. Lithuania needs to win or not lose by more then 9 pts to Bosnia Herzegovina in order to advance after Latvia won against Macedonia and moved to next stage.

Germany beats Israel and prevents them from advancing. This means Group A(In case France beats Belgium):

France 4-1
Ukraine 4-1
Belgium 2-3 2-0 wins in 3 way
Great Britain 2-3 1-1
Germany 2-3 0-2

Group B:
We got a 3 way tie between Latvia, Bosnia and Lithuania at least.
If Serbia wins vs Montenegro the standings look like this:

1 Serbia 4-1
2 Latvia 3-2 +5
3 Lithuania 3-2 +3
4 Bosnia 3-2 -5

Group C Croatia beats Czech Republic:
Assuming Slovenia wins vs Poland the 3 way tie is broken the following:
1 Spain 4-1 +19
2 Slovenia 4-1 +7
3 Croatia 4-1 -26

In group D Italy stays unbeaten

1 Italy 5-0
2 Finland 4-1
3 Greece 3-2

Man, Lithuania was walking on the edge of the sword in 4th quarter, were down by 16 with 5 min left and looked hopeless until Kleiza hit couple big 3's and saved them. Not sure why Kazlauskas played JV only 7 min and he did not play in second half at all, maybe injury?

He rolled his ankle in yesterday's game. But played after a short break. But often these kind of injuries don't hurt as long as your foot is in motion and hot. AFter the game sometimes you have increased pain then.

More upsets in the making. The boxscore make me think: Horrible games, better not tune in.

Thanks for the breakdown of the groups, will be repped.

So Turkey exits with a loss to Russia. They need major remodeling of their team, coaching, approach to international games, I just do not know what else to say.

There is nothing else to say.

It was just a prediction. But now with the 4 way tie in group B it's going to be interesting since I'm too lazy to break a 4 way tie.

I think Bosnia is the one that eliminated.

Without changing the entire federation and the entire coaching unit and shaking the entire roster, same problems will keep happening again. And I don't think Enes will come back unless the first or second problem I mentioned is solved.

so whats your guesses who will qualify to elimination round?

Group 1:
Team P W/L F/A Pts
1. France 2 2/0 159/136 4
2. Serbia 2 2/0 143/127 4
3. Lithuania 2 1/1 123/122 3
4. Ukraine 2 1/1 129/134 3
5. Latvia 2 0/2 130/147 2
6. Belgium 2 0/2 122/140 2

Group 2

Team P W/L F/A Pts
1. Italy 2 2/0 143/116 4
2. Spain 2 1/1 137/118 3
3. Slovenia 2 1/1 152/145 3
4. Finland 2 1/1 130/139 3
5. Croatia 2 1/1 116/142 3
6. Greece 2 0/2 149/167 2

My bets are on France, Lithuania, Serbia and Latvia in first group, and Italy, Spain, Slovenia and Croatia in second. Greece really screwed themselves by losing to both Italy and Finland and for them to go through they need at least 2 wins against either Slovenia, Croatia or Spain. Plus some lucky results from other teams. I just do not see it happening.
