Why is he not getting any play? On Chad Ford's top 100 prospects using his Draft Rater formula, which if you read the article I'm referencing seems quite successful in the years he's used it for projections, Foote ranks #19.

One quick excerpt..."Jeff Foote, on the other hand ... now that's a name that will shock people, just as soon as they figure out who the heck he is. The 7-footer for Cornell shot 62.5 percent his senior year and had deceptively strong rebound and block totals for a slow-paced team."


The kid is the tallest entrant in the draft at 7'0.25" without shoes.
He has a standing reach of 9'3.5" which is only 1.5 inches less than the "best" guys in Cousins, etc.
He's obviously very smart, probably has good character, and used to a structured offense.
He carries weight at 252 and has an ok frame to pack on muscle (10-15 lbs.) without losing anything.
He was the anchor inside for a great defensive team.

I gotta think this kid is worth a look. Thoughts?

He is definitely worth a look. You never want to take a guy to early if you can get him late, but I'd even consider him at the end of the first round. Anytime you have a skilled player like Foote, who stands 7'2" you should consider him. Hell, he's a lot better prospect than Walter Palmer was and the Jazz didn't have any problem taking him with their first overall pick early in the second round.
 
I don't even think he's projected to be drafted so the end of the first round seems ridiculously high imo. However, if we were to trade down and pick up multiple picks, I'd love it. Personally, if we can't move up to get one of the top five (which I'm sure we can't), I'd die to trade down. If we could trade down and get Memphis' two 1st rounders, we could maybe get Babbitt who we want anyway and then use the other 1st to perhaps trade down again and acquire another pick. Through those, in the 2nd, we could get bigs like Pittman (who I love and could see flourish) and Foote (who I like a lot and has virtually no downside as a 2nd rounder). Two legit bigs who bring defense to the table yet have different styles and skills.
 
I know nothing about this guy besides what I can see in the numbers and he looks worth taking a look at based on those.
 
Looking at his numbers, color me unimpressed.
 
He also ranks near the top of Hollinger's Draft Rater which - even though it doesn't very accurately take into consideration SoS - is worth noting.

Keep in mind he only played 27 minutes a game for a team that played a slow pace. When you adjust his numbers for pace/per 40, he's at 18 ppg, 12 rebs and 3 blks. Bottom line, he did what he team needed him to do (I think they lost 3 games?) to win and was efficient in his offense.

WOW! Do we really need 5 awkward white centers?

Don't waste the 1st round pick on Aldrich. He's barely better than Foote. Bringing in Tomic would be ideal but probably wouldn't happen. I agree with resigning Fes. Give Koufos minutes at PF. Draft Foote in the 2nd round.

OK, I'll spell it out..I was being facetious.
 
I'm curious who put that this is a "stupid suggestion" in my reputation but doesn't have the cajones to put it here or the intelligence to explain why the idea of drafting him (late) in the 2nd round or signing him if he goes undrafted is "stupid."
